New Guy in NE Ohio
Hi folks. I'm currently looking into picking up a Crossfire SRT6. I have a 2008 300C SRT8 that has a 426 stroker and a Magnuson 2.3 liter twin-screw supercharger with a built NAG1 transmission and Quaife differential in back going out through DSS 1000 hp axles and hubs. I'm putting down about 700 hp/tq at the rear wheels.
I also have a 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 that I'm going to get rid of. It's a really low-miles car (about 8800 miles) with a Realtune ECU and a CPE exhaust. Nice little car, but just not sophisticated enough for me. Too boy racer.
I have always loved the Crossfire, and I want to replace the SRT4 with a SRT6 coupe. Please forgive a noob, but would anyone be so kind as to give me the basics on what to look for when shopping for one of these cars? What are the trouble areas and common things that go wrong with them. I intend to buy a stock car as I do not want someone else's hot rod that I cannot be sure of how it was treated and driven.
Cheers!

I drove a friends last year to the Dragon in nc/TN last year. Three weeks later I bought my wife an SRT6 SSB Roadster. Last month I flew to San Diego and now I have a Black SRT6 Coupe too. Looking for a 3rd one. Catch the fever! Don't be afraid to hop a plane and go get one. Wed rove almost 3000 miles in 9 days and had a blast! A Bucket List trip so to speak.
Thanks folks for being so welcoming to me. I am a hardcore Mopar head, and while the Caliber SRT4 is a blast for the sheer power - especially after the upgrades - it isn't quite what I want.
The Crossfire is very European and that's been my background for a long time. I've owned many Audi's a few BMW's and a Mercedes. That's part of why I love my 300C SRT8 so much. It took the best of what makes American cars what they are and wedded it to a very European influence. I see the Crossfire in the same light.
I will read the buyers guide information, and hopefully soon I will be an active member of the forum with my own beautiful Crossfire coupe. In the meantime, I will read and learn and ask questions.
Cheers!

Welcome to the club. I live near Columbus, OH. Do you drag race any? I race at National Trail Raceway all the time.
I've never driven a SRT6- I have an SLK32 AMG - but I think you'll love it.
Things to look for:
Rust. As with any Ohio car.
The intercooler pump will either be bad, or will go out soon. Plan on buying the Johnson CM30 replacement
The intercoolers themselves can develop leaks internally. Low coolant level is a bad sign.
The differential is a weak point in the drivetrain. Listen good when test driving. Plan on buying the Wavetrac LSD if your going to go for serious mods.

Hey, another Ohio Mopar nut!
I live in Port Clinton on Lake Erie. We are flying to Fort Myers FL, in two weeks to pick up my 05 SRT-6. Also have an 04 Crossfire (bought new), and an 07 Turbocharged 300C. I also had a 2004 Solar Yellow SRT-4 making 330 HP at the wheels.
As mentioned hop a plane and drive back, we are going from Ft Myers to New Orleans and then up through KY visiting relatives over Thanksgiving.
PM me if you want to talk Crossfires.

Hi Neighbor!
With the exception of forum member Tom2112 (he lives in Sharon PA) I'm probably one of the closest to ya. I'm located at Rt.224, and Rt.44. (Randolph)
Tom has an SRT6 and can probably answer any questions you may have.
I'm a Mopar guy as well, but I'm a 6 speed guy myself, so that relegates me to the NA variety XF, but I'm perfectly content with it's performance. That being said, I know you just can't beat the performance offered by the "6" for the money invested. And since you obviously like modified Mopars, you're going to have a ball playing with the SRT6.
SRT6's are really kind of an oddity in North Eastern Ohio, so be prepared to travel to find one. I went to Paducah Kentucky to buy my car brand new, but I got a fantastic deal so it was worth it. The 9 hr. drive home went by way too fast.
My only concern is, are you sure you can deal with ONLY having 2 doors?
