Is the SRT6 A 'Supercar'
I was just curious, and i was wondering today. Is a SRT6 a 'Supercar' ?
- It is VERY VERY fast
- It is VERY VERY rare
- Its body style is VERY VERY unique
- 0-60 in under 5 seconds
- the only thing is that, they are cheap and they dont have a supercar pricetag
What do you think?

This is from Wikipedia. I guess it is a supercar, not.
Supercar is a term used most often to describe an expensive high end car. It has been defined specifically as "a very expensive, fast or powerful car".
[1] Stated in more general terms: "it must be very fast, with sporting handling to match", "it should be sleek and eye-catching" and its price should be "one in a rarefied atmosphere of its own".
[2]However, the proper application of the term is subjective and disputed, especially among enthusiasts. So-called vehicles are typically out of the ordinary and are marketed by automakers to be perceived by the public as unusual. The supercar can take many forms including limited production specials from an "elite" automaker, standard looking cars made by mainstream companies that hide massive power and performance, as well as models that appeal to "hardcore enthusiasts" from "manufacturers on the fringe of the car industry".

Hey Zoo..... I dont want to be the one to tell you but, these cars are not very very fast nor very very rare. Id give it prety quick at most and dang....have you seen how many are for sale right now. An internet search earlier today came up with like 30 something srt6's.
But, I do like your enthusiasm

The SRT6 is. Because It is the most beautiful, best handling, fastest, comfortable and Best made two seater I have owned. It is a supercar to me and not for sale! I want no other car. gary
I wish I had the engine in my Limited Roadster (with a stick) but otherwise there isn't anything that really draws me to an SRT over my car.
But to get back on topic, no, I would never consider a Crossfire (of any flavor) a supercar. They just don't have the "wow" factor, nor do they have the aura of "supercarness". They are cool, quick, fun as hell and I wouldn't give mine up for anything less than a car costing more than 10x what I gave for it.

Supercar's main purpose is "status". When you see a Ferrari you think that guys got money and a hot blonde next to him.
An Apple computer is a "status", because the cheapest one is $1k, and for that much you can have the best pc that'll run circles around it.
No doubt that a SRT6 with a pulley/tune will do high 11's, but it doesn't bring "status" which is what is all about...
Not dissing on it, I'm considering getting one, just answering the question

Enen without pulling "11's', the high torque, the 150 plus speed, the solid feel of our cars on the read, over other to-seated cars, the XF is a great car. The "super-car" status is in the eyes of the beholder. I think mine is.
I think a super car would be something most of us would never have the monies to just spend on a car,Lease one probably not, cts v- 60,000 dollars is over a 1000.oo month and then make a down payment
I think in todays dollars you would be spending close to 200,000 for the starter super car. And guys the insurance, maintence, storage etc. But i can dream. I think most super cars owners have so much money they don"t even considered the cost . And your may discover they have several sc'

If you have not seen the movie time out See it and you understand why they make 400,000 to million dollar cars 100,000 watches. 10,000 and up suits, 10 ft flat screen tv, and yachts that cost millions of dollars. Can anyone say i have never shopped walmart, I don"t know how much bread and milk cost ! why not they have others do all that for them,

Not even close. Altho it is a absolute steal for what they go for. Supercars are the cream of the crop sort of vehicals and typical have price tags of over 100-300 grand.

Price cannot be a definition here because in the end, the SRT versions were given away just as were the NA's.
Does this help set the standard?
Was the SLK 55 AMG a super car?
