Default Need Diff Parts

Hey guys I just recieved a parts list/ Estimate from my mechanic for a Rear Dif rebuild. I got most of the diff intirnals from Woody this past weekend (thanks Woody). Now that the mechanic has taken the rear out, I feel like there trying to take me for a ride.

Basicly I need to save some money were ever I can. If you have spare parts or know where I can find any of these parts send me a PM

Ring and Pinion Gear Set $375.18
Main pinion Bearing $140
Bearing (2) $216 part # 52111478AB
Gear Oil (2.5) $124.97

Pinion ring $8.70
Pinion Shim (2) $12.99
Carrier Shim (2) $7.00
Pinion Spacer $21.20
Pinion Bearing $49.99
Pinion Seal $15.35
Axel Seal (2) $15.70
Mopar LSD Additive $19.99
Parts Cleaner $4.99

Not to mention they want $170.63 to Remove Differental inspect fluing and internals
$739.38 for "R&R" Differential
and $682.50 to "Build Differential"

Have you inquired about buying a complete carrier from MrMopar?

The carrier will be the entire housing with everything inside. This would be a simple swap and require only basic mechanical skills to perform.

Go on ebay and search "crossfire carrier" and you'll see what I mean.

Just send a PM to "MrMopar".

Talking Re: Need Diff Parts

LSD additive is interesting as the rear is an "open" design and has no LSD capacity. Labor is a bit on the high side. Woody

Wow, they are building almost a complete new rear from scratch based on that list... Some of those prices are WAY high and some low (like the ring/pinion). You can verify all the prices here:
2002 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK32 AMG Parts - OE Discount Parts

And their labor rate is steep, IMO.

As mentioned before:

Personally I would purchase a used entire housing, prefer low mileage if you can. Simple change-out for a shop w/hoist. Another $20 to drain and refill gear lube. Then alignment.
