Hello - I'm new
Hello everyone, i have had my Black SRT6 for just over a year now but i am just now joining the forums! (shame on me).
Real quickly, i am 22 and a senior public relations student at UNF in Jacksonville, Florida.
When i was shopping for a car last year i knew i wanted a sports car that was fast, attractive, and handled well. I remember this car blowing me away in the test drive, and made my 350z test drive experience pale in comparison.
My SRT6 is a daily driver and is nearly up to the 100k Miles mark. My only mods so far are rear cat and resonator delete, Borla muffler, and matte black grille. I enjoy the car immensely - my only gripe is how greatly my MPG is effected by my spirited driving habits.
It has not all been a fairy tale, though. My IC pump failed after i had the car for a week, a few months later my supercharger exploded and doused my engine bay with shrapnel - leaving me with a $4000 repair, the lining on my headboard has fallen down, my steering pump failed, last month my girlfriend cracked one of my rear rims (she normally drives her Prius), the car no longer receives the key less entry signal, and my trunk periodically locks itself shut for weeks at a time.
Unfortunately for my wallet, i love this damn thing.
I would appreciate any input regarding the health of SRT6 or Crossfire meets in North Florida, i have made it to a couple of SRT4 meets in Jacksonville but i have yet to meet another SRT6 driver.
Here is a picture of my car, i am looking forward to contributing to the community!

Sounds like this forum would've saved you some cash, haha. Props to you for sticking with it though. What caused the supercharger failure?
BTW, welcome!
BTW, welcome!
hah, thanks.
There was a bit of a rattling sound i could hear at idle, but i did not know how serious it was, or if it was even a bad sound; considering i had purchased the car used.
The rattling sound was coming from (excuse my lack of proper terminology) the big bolt coming out of the supercharger that spins the pulley. Evidently it was on the brink of failure from being loose or bent or something.
I had pulled out of a gas station and was on my way to work, gunned it, and suddenly a horrible sound happened and there were gallons of coolant spewing onto my engine, creating quite a scene for passerbys.
The failure was so catastrophic that pieces of metal shot up through the padding in the hood, nicked the underside of the hood, cut pretty much any hose in the area, and put a nice sawblade cut right in the front of the engine cover. The engine was still running but i obviously pulled over and turned it off immediately.
oh and i forgot two other things that are wrong: the AC is not blowing cold and one of the sub woofers is blown (i think).
I have a substantial amount of work to do on the car, i hope there are guides for everything!.. was just skimming the CAI relevant posts, i want a cold air intake but i refuse to shell out the big bucks for the need wings.. 250$ area seems more reasonable for a 3" pipe with a filter on the end.

Welcome and wow, not many supercharger reported failures. Glad you still love the car. I've been abusing my car for 4 years now at the drag strips, with at least 500 passes and it is still running strong, knock on wood. My homemade cold air intake costs about $150, and it has made a huge difference in the car's performance, of course with the SC pulley and tune. I also have the rear cats/resonator removed. I live in the Orlando area, so if you are ever around, drop me a line. Neal
Hang in there my friend, I think you will find this forum to be very helpful not to mention there are some very knowledgeable members and SRT owners not far from you. BTW you have the best color for an SRT as well....
yeah, i love the black color. I don't have a garage so i keep a bottle of Meguiars final touch and a couple of microfibers in my car at all times. The black shows everything!!
Mimi - nice! i was in Orlando just a few days ago - my girlfriend wanted some furniture from Ikea and i wanted to try a Swedish meatball.
I have a strange question.. and it may just be me. Every time i am in Orlando i see at least two attractive middle aged women driving a brand new M3. What up with that - Orlando thing?
I know in Boca Raton the thing was attractive middle aged chicks in Bentley Continental GT two-doors.
Lastly, do you ever visit Central Florida Racing Complex?

Welcome to the forum. The Florida group will probably do something in May or June this year. There are quite a few of us in the Central Florida area. I will be up in the Jax area in about 2 weeks with my SRT. Danimal lives in Yulee and we will be headed to the Dragon in NC.
I love the CFRC but mostly to watch the drifters. That is so much fun. We (and by we I mean my BF) race the SRT at Speed World sometime too. Mimi & Thumper are the dedicated racers in our area.
A lot of headliners come down in FL. Its hot & humid here so a lot of cars have that problem. You can get it replaced for about $125.

DUUUUUUUUUVALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! Welcome to the forum, Sp33dy. I am KimPossible's boyfriend and the guy that drives our SRT-6 99% of the time. She likes twisties, I like 1/4 mile strips of fun, and that may be why there are 2 Crossfires in the car port(yellow roadster in her profile pic). If you want to see hot women in expensive cars, Winter Park isn't a bad place to be. We're just north of Orlando, barely, but have meets in Daytona and Orlando often. As far as the CAI goes, Mimi05SRT(Neal) and I both have DIY CAIs and love them. Orlando SpeedWorld is where we like to run, but it's been a while for me. I'll have to see who my dad uses for headliners in Jax., might be able to help you out some there. Keep enjoying the car. If it makes you happy, don't give up on it. BTW, which side of town? I lived there for 20+ yrs, from the Beaches to the West Side, but Riverside is where my best memories came from. Post and King!
@mimi thanks! actually no grill on in that picture that was when i was painting it. I ask about CFRC because it is owned by my old roommate's dad back my freshman year at FAU. They are building a motocross track in Oklahoma now for some reason. That is amazing you have done so many drag runs with your SRT, how often do you change the oil?, or replace maintenance items for that matter?
@kim Great! i really dont mind driving anywhere in-state as long as it the weekend, can make a vacation out of it!
@Chuk 9-OH-4!! I live in St. Nicholas right now (a few minutes from downtown), but i did live in Deerwood on the southside for a while. My mom lives in jax beach. My girlfriend lived in Riverside before she moved in with me, she was right on Herschel next to some big church. They closed the streets in five points on St. Patricks day, from what i remember it was pretty awesome! I occasionally do some right-of-way acquisition work with my mom, and whenever we pass through we always have dinner at Houston's in Winter Park. I really want to try that BBQ place always seems to have a line out the door. I am down for making a custom CAI if it does not require too much fabrication, i am good at the whole removing the air box thing but it is the putting it back in park that gives me trouble. Any references for a headliner would be great, that would clear up any hesitation i have been having about picking someone to replace it.
I am very interested in running my car on a road course, do i need to be a member of the SCCA?
You guys are pretty awesome, and you love your SRT6s almost as much as i love mine!! - hope to see your cars soon!

Yeah, you'll have to come down, or we'll make some excuse to come up to Jax. I have a ton of family that still lives there. Miss having a slice at Moon River Pizza and following it with a soft serve from Dreamette. Those were the days! If you do make it down here, maybe we can plan to get together at Church Street Station for the monthly show. They hold it the first Sat. of every month. Looks like I'll try to rally the troops and see if we can have a good showing for May. Kim will be at the Tail of the Dragon for the coming month's show, and I'm not taking her "Tweety Bird" up there. So let's try for May and go from there. Keep on taking care of that collector car!
Did you trade in your SRT in Orlando for a Lexus SC 430? Not too many black SRT-6 coupes from Jax with 100K get traded in very often........and don't ask how I got this info!
Hey! just got your email figure i would respond here.
Not me!! that is funny, though. I have seen the black srt6 around town a few times.
An SC 430 is far too anemic for my taste anyway
Wanted to come out to the tail of the dragon this weekend but i am prepping for finals and not enough time to get the car tuned up - looking to be there for the Fall meeting though, have some family that lives in Winston-Salem.
