I think the quad turbo V12 borrowed from Mercedes would cost at least 50K.

Uh, no. Maybe $200k. It was supposed to be a supercar, it was going to be several hundred thousand dollars. The absolute material cost would have been greater than $20k on that car. It was most likely going to be a variant of the M175, or the engine that ended up going in the Pagani Zonda, the M120. The cost of the engine along is around 60k.

This was going to be an amazing car, but was never destined for anything but concept status. Too much power and too light at the time for a street car...if it came out today as a concept it may just stick.

Another big reason this never took off was the dissolution of Daimler-Chrysler around the time this was in final testing.

Wow... if only. It is good to know Chrysler still had inspired car nuts working for them, trying to make something better than your run-of-the-mill family sedans, even as Chrysler steered closer to impending disaster.

Wow, similar in price as the audi r8..... I would have put it as my first supercar to buy once I retire.
