Default SRT-6 Seats Vs Limited Seats

Hi All,

I am thinking about replacing my SRT-6 Seats for some Limited Seats (putting my SRT-6 seats in storage), due to the very low numbers that came to Australia, I fear them getting ripped or worn and not being able to replace them..

I am hoping that you Guys can help out with the following:

Can these be a straight swap?

How hard are the seats to take in/out?

Are they more comfortable/softer than SRT-6 seats?

I am predicting that they are relatively easy swap over, but, is there anything else that I should take into account..

Cheers!

Straight swap, you just slide around in 'em more.

Confirmed, BUT -- I actually prefer this.

Once you plop into the SRT seats, any adjustments afterward require you to literally lift yourself off the seat, then re-plop. Rinse and repeat until you get comfortable. With the Limited seats, you simply wriggle until you get comfy.

Another thing I noticed about the SRT seats is they hold odors much longer. Now that I have my Limited seats installed, the smell is pure leather.

I've driven mine hard since the seats were swapped, and noticed no real loss in confidence. Then again, I tracked my Limited that the seats came from, so perhaps I'm used to the feel.

End result worked out nicely though...

We won't go any farther on this subject, a little too much info here already I think. LOL

You cannot beat the smell of 'Pure Corinthian Leather'. Is that what your sig refers to? I should check.

Check away!

Actually, the previous owner (or one of them) smoked in the car. Not often -- as the smell was not overwhelming -- but enough. A tell-tale cigarette burn on the headliner tipped me off.

That's the smell that simply would not release it's grip from the glorified cloth, aka Alcantara.

The smell of smoke permeates everything, foam, carpets, headlining etc.
When it's there nothing but a complete removal will work. I never smoke in my car, the wife would refuse to ride in it and so would I for that matter.

Smoking in my car would be the last step in keeping my wife from wanting to drive it. LOL The NA was a sixer and so that was a non starter as far as her driving it was concerned. This one I have told her is too powerful and dangerous for he to drive, so far this works.

Honestly if it wasn't for the hole in the headliner (near the window), you'd never know it.

I've fully cleaned all surfaces, replaced seats, and shampooed the carpets.

When you get in it now, it has that signature "sweet German used car smell"... Can't put my finger on it, but it's the same smell you can find in any Bimmer, Audi, Mercedes...

Your butt slides around more on the Limited slick finish seats than with the suade finished SRT-6 seats. Squirrel Crusher

"glorified cloth, aka Alcantara" I don't understand the popularity either. Faux suade. Why would I like it any better than fake leather? Disregard, of course, that some faux stuff is better suited for the application than the real.

Alcantara is a great material for auto use, no doubt about it -- because unlike real suede, you can clean it with more aggressive solutions. Once you stain a true suede, replacement is the only option at that point. The Alcantara does give better grip in the seats.

There are ways to snug yourself into the seat that will make any normal leather seat perform just fine. Alcantara is about as crucial to a fast lap time as a carbon fiber dash kit. Still, many insist that you need both to go fast, because Ferrari does it.

Also, to the leather owners, be mindful of the cleaner you're using. I use Meguiar's and then dry off the excess with a microfiber towel. If your seats are glossy, you have too much product on them.

My logic -- if you're driving fast enough to need Alcantara, chances are you're sweating enough in the middle of your back to keep you glued to any seat.

i understand your predicament. if you can work with mr. mopar on the shipping/crating costs for srt-6 seats to down under, i'd go that route (depending on how long you're planning to own the srt, of course). two extra of any high use, wear type item like seats would be a good idea. i much prefer the mixed alcantara over the limited leather. i have my own collection of 2-fers although seats aren't a part of the equation.

Cheers for the advice.. I try to get to the US every year, (I was there June last year, won't be there this year, but will be there next year).. I might even hold out until I go again next year and bring back some proper SRT seats, a Supercharger and hopefully a Luggage set also..
