Default Plenum gaskets... spacers...

notice a month after I cleaned the engine bay a significant aount of spray which seems to be coming from the plenum (gasket).
Thoughts......?

I'm thinking this is why you guys go for the oil catch can.

Maybe I should consider renewing my plenum>manifold gaskets. I did have the plenum off back then and thighted them to spec Nm....but it appears its just on eof those - "replace gaskets if removed" things.

I renewed the RTV on the 2ndry cover etc when I was in there a month ago.
Although I must admit I only left it a few hours and not 'til the next day.
I reused the old valve cover to head gaskets with a view to getting new ones and having a go later whern they come in.

Later that week I had the plenums off with a view to doing a reconnaissance run on insulating under the SC. I warily reused the old gaskets.
I suspect it is those since the spatter (photo) is on the top of the 2ndry cover and angled as if it was sprayed form the plenum area rather than seepage/crawl.

I had heard (or I could be wrong) that someone had actually added spacers to the plenum....interesting idea - increase the volume and possibly add some momentum to the incoming air pressure.

Finally getting off my fat as$...
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-gb-150-a.html
lowers AIT by lowering heat transmission up from the intake manifold to the plenum.
I suspect it may also be an advantage to add them to the intake/head contact surface as well.

Perhaps clean it all up good and give it a good run, then check it out. As you mentioned, maybe your RTV job didn't cure well enough before you ran it. Re: Spacers; many have tried these and gone back to stock because of leak issues, but the phenolic spacers are more for helping isolate from heat transfer. Stock intake manifold gaskets w/ a coat of copper gasket spray on each side seems to work the best. I've tried twice but have had no luck using the rubberized cork gaskets. And yes, you'd do right by getting one of Needswings oil catch cans.

a) has anyone managed to seal these effectively?
b) has anyone simply tried 3 or 4 gaskets with copper seal between each layer?

seems one of the problem may be the torque able to be applied - if the thread could be redeisgned to accomodate 20 or 30Nm...that may yeild a much better result - oh well it is what it is.

hmmm...just trying to find a part number for the
head/inlet manifold gasket....
as opposed to the
inlet manifold/plenum gasket.

anyone?

AutohausAZ currently have plenum/inlet manifold gaskets for $3.32 each

PS - any copper sealant may be counter productive if it actually has copper in it - copper is a good thermal conductor.

okay - for anyone else....

here
Auto Parts - Parts.com, For Every Part of Your Life

Later that day......
--------------------------------------
Actually - I'm not sure if the description in the picture is acurately descriptive. If you follow the link.
Item 2 = supercharger gasket 3.2 LITER, side Right
Item 3 = supercharger gasket 3.2 LITER, side Left

But I'm not sure that is correct - I suspect they are left an right but
2 = Plenum/Intake Right
3 = Intake/Head Left.....
If someone agrees - great....otherwise I stand corrected.
