Paging Rob at NeedsWings - Dead Crank Pulley
Hi,
I got the 178 mm crankshaft pulley kit a few years ago and up till now the only problem I've had was the idler pulley failing. Tonight the crank pulley broke apart - the outer rim separated from the inner section. The rubber between them has been atomized and is now covering my engine in a coating of dust that rivals that of the brake pads on the front rims.
So.....is there 178mm crank pulleys available separately, or is it only available with the complete kit? Would you like the pulley back for analysis?
I think what I'm going to do for now is to reinstall the original pulleys and run stock until the crank pulley situation gets resolved. I need my car running ASAP since now I'm driving a 74 Dart that slurps down the fuel like you won't believe. The fuel savings I'll get with my car back on the street will more than make up for the additional cost of swapping pulleys back and forth.

If it is an ASP pulley that is not surprising. This is not a knock against ASP but against the stock MB the crank pulley is built on. Many (myself included) have had the stock crank pulley go bad.
Rob will take good care of you.
