Replaced Bosch pump with Johnson, need help stat
Resolved: It's a vent hose that means nothing. Good advice in this thread though.
Everything went smoothly...except one thing. There's a ?vacuum? hose left over. The Bosch pump has the coolant lines in the front and then on the back is a small rubber hose, that DOESN'T hook up anywhere on the Johnson. The instructions I found here looks like it just dangles there afterward.
And I lied about it going smoothly...it was a pain in the *** lol. The directions are pretty good except:
It doesn't address the rubber hose (for the love of God what am I supposed to do with it?!)
If you do this, have a plan for how to attach the pump. I don't have a good way to do it, I drilled a hole, used a nut/washer/bolt and swore violently while using a set of 3" wrenches to attempt to tighten it since the mount has to be bolted on before the pump goes on. Hopefully someone can put forth a good plan for this.
It's till better/easier than taking it to the dealer. Lastly, screw MB for building a car with super crappy jack points...I hate you.
No longer having to wonder if I'm going to have supercharged funtime or Civic towing a travel trailer when hitting the gas still trumps all this

wrap the pump in a bicycle inner tube (2$) and slide it into the oem rubber housing then simply bolt it back in place like oem. take the rubber hose and CAREFULLY place in your closest trash can. its a vent hose thats no longer needed. if you up to the task remove the old pump housing take the oem female plug apart and solder it to the johnson electrical leads. now you have a oem plug setup with the proper resistor in place. takes all of maybe 2 hrs.

Dude, you got the best advice from the right person in ten minutes, this forum continues to impress.
I had a left over radiator hose that I cut out to wrap around my johnson. I have almost 15K on it.

He must have one heck of a Johnson to require a radiator hose wrap, I always just got by with a store bought Trojan.
Some people have all the luck (fun)
