Suspicious water pump.
Hi Guys,
Today I was getting ready to change the coolant in my 05 SRT-6 and noticed a shimmy movement (2-3 mm) in the belt where it makes contact with the water pump pulley. I checked all of the bolts on that pulley and they were tight. I grabbed the entire pulley and found movement when I applied pressure at different angles. My suspicion is that the water pump is on its way out. Would you guys concur? Currently I do not see any coolant leaking. The belt is in great shape, coolant levels are normal. Ideas? Further ways to test?
Due to the location of the water pump, it does not look like a hard job to replace but with only 80K on the clock, I'm wondering if that failure was to be expected that soon?
Does anyone know where to get the correct part (Not from the dealer) at a decent price? I'm on a budget here.
Thanks for your time.

Mine went about 15k miles ago and the part was like $240 or something if I remember correctly ! It's a pretty straight foward part to install ! Takes about 1-2 hours to do

An easy way to keep track of the bolts is to place each one into the matching hole in the new pump as you remove them, then when the old pump is out transfer them back. Install the new pump using same method.

Thanks for the helpful info guys. I appreciate it. Ill look up those part numbers and see what's out there. As far as brands go and I ALREADY LEARNED THIS LESSON with the CPS, what are acceptable brands to work with. Please let me know which ones were NOT a good choice as well. Thank you ALL again. Right! I was carefully looking at that while choosing the new pump. I was interested in going with a PSK from NW as I know there are other stock pulleys that are getting tired. Thanks
