Default Another rear diff bites the dust

Last weekend was Midwest Street Fest at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI. This event was heads up "street cars". I knew going into the event I was one of the slowest cars there, but it was all for fun and still could test and tune the rest of the day. Match ups were pulled from a hat....and I drew an AMS Alpha GTR. Needless to say, I could not cover him unless he red lighted or broke. So I kept the car in low boost and ran a 12.2@120.
Car felt good, so I went up for a T&T pass at mid boost (26psi). Got up on the 2-step, launched the car off the parking break to a dissapointing 1.8 60'. When I shifted into 4th at the 1000' mark, I heard a loud bang, and the rear end hopped. Still accomplished an 11.3@126.8.

Below is what I found today when I removed the diff:

3 teeth on the pinion broke. The ring actually looks fine. I have a low mileage 3.27 diff that should be here tomorrow, and I will get my WaveTrac swapped over.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Plan is to get it back on the road for a SRT meet in Wisconsin on the 16th. I need to defend my 2 time bags championship.

On a positive note, that trap speed is sick!

I honestly think the pinion depth was not set correctly. Always had a little noise and this year it was bad. At the 1/2mile it was screaming on decel and light load. But, this is an excuse for a 3.27 gear

Thanks Jim. Fine tuning the fuel/timing maps and a 1.6 or better 60' should net a 10.99 or better. The EGS is on its way to be programmed as we speak.
