Who is running stacked pulleys?
Have been running stacked (Code 3 & 181) for years. Smoked one supercharger after an extended high speed highway run. Learned my lesson and don't do that anymore!
Day to day hard driving in and around town haven't had any issues since.
Have a generic tune and no fuel mods (yet). AFR's stay safe at my altitude (4700ft).

So what did you do? Go back to the 65mm SC pulley? Your statement alone did not inform anyone and I would rather learn before I need a new motor as at that point I would simply quit. Sometimes I think an '87 Buick GN/T-Type may have been a better base. maybe mid 12's is all I should acceept and enjoy that for what it is though what you did would be of great benefit to many besides myself I'm sure.
That has been another question I have had. Unfortunately there are not many mods that have much return for the investment. I'm looking for solid 11.80's.

I've decided to go with a 69/70 SC pulley and the 178/PSK. I should be able to run stock injectors with this set-up. It will add 5 percent or get boost to 20 plus/minus .5 psi.
I just need to find a shop to turn my stock pulley. Maybe who grip grip used, looking for the link. I may need the adjustable regulator but am waiting for my PLX wide and so I can record AFR's I have now. 12.2:1 seems to be the target. Thanks to all for the advice and helping me decide not to try the 178/65.
I'll need to find some other mods as I want 11's. One fellow does 11.7 with what seems like minimal mods. I will find his name and post his sig.
I'd like to do exhaust work but from what I read eliminating the resonator and changing the muffler does not add any power. I would like to try a nice Borla muffler, best IMHO. Mark
Check out Mimi05SRT6-Runs consistent 11.8's with minimal mods listed. If you see this g
How about your mods in detail, awesome numbers and where I want to be. Mark

I would think anyone doing 11.7 has more than minimal mods, maybe they just didn't list everything.

Jim, I am hoping he'll tell me. When someone lists custom exhaust it makes me curious as dropping 4 cats is supposed to be worth 15hp, maybe somebody found some power in changing the resonator and muffler. I have wanted to try dropping the resonator and using a Borla Pro XS, best muffler IMHO, with an X-pipe addeD also. Just would need to find cat delete downpipeS less than $800.!!!
Went to the track last night
Even with drag radials it was a challenge to not spin off the line.
Best times were the same as before I installed the chiller killer.
Car runs 12.15 sec with a top speed of 114 miles per hour.
Next project is to install nitrous & run a 75 shot.
installed a ethanol gauge & tried upping the percentage, but these ECM see it and go lean in spots.
So much power is left on the table because of tuning limitations of this ECM.

Water/meth almost cost me an engine, please be careful. I ran the same times with it and out it too. Running 11's in a Crossfire or SLK is in the expertise of the driver. Lots of practice or luck is what it takes unless you've set up the suspension for drag racing. I could never leave hard without spinning or getting some rear axel hop. A 1.8 60' was rare for me. My 11 second run was because I iced the entire top of the engine as well as running the I/C pump and spraying the heat exchanger with water. I ran a bunch of 12.0xx's then parked my car and iced for an hour. That's when it happened.

The ethanol was experiment with little benefit. My water methanol, I'm just spraying 4 gallons an hour mostly as antiknock protection. But I agree with you that I need to be really careful when messing with Different fuels on these cars.
I am definitely a crappy driver it is really hard to maintain consistency on launches.

My meth controller malfunctioned and emptied the washer reservoir. Because of the nozzle location in the Y all the fluid went into the intercooler and I didn't hydrolock the engine. It happened twice before I figured out why.

Mimi05SRT6 is the guy who has a long list of 11.8x slips. So far no contact. You guys likely know him. Mine is an SLK. If a high 11 is rare then whatever I can get to. Right now if the pulley comes out at 70mm I will be thrilled. That and the 178/PSK seems a perfect combo. After that I don't know. I think the stock muffler is a straight through design and if so the reason the muffler change does not add power but a nice quiet ride is OK with me. It seems my ride doing 18-19psi with just Rob's DCAI, E/C pulley(64.7mm) and a race tune for TORCO from Jerry is unusual. I just read where stock is 14.5 and the pulley adds 3.5psi today. I guess every car/motor is different. Rob said he hit 25psi with a 178/65 combo.
With TOYO PROXES R888's I think anyones car here would lunch, even Jim's quickest SLK in the world. I know a guy with a '93 Mazda with an LSx motor putting 565 to the wheels that cuts 1.5-1.6 60's. This is a car weighing less than 3k with the driver and runs 10's. The Cobra guys(yeah I am mentioning them again) swear by them and they don't run high 11's. My Cobra powered '99 Mustang had an open exhaust(no cats) a smaller pulley(14psi) and a tune and put down 440/440. My quickest car was a 122 c.i. eagle Talon, mid 11's. There are guys that run high 11's and I guess they know something that is a well kept secret or some cars just are stronger. I just want a reasonable goal. 12.3 would be fine now as it seems 11's are too expensive, difficult. On with the show. Insulating my NW DCAI pipes. Heat is an SLK issue as there is no room for the existing heat exchangers. Thanks for the help and encouragement, especially grip grip who answered every question and was instrumental in leading me to the 178/70 choice.

I didn't answer every question, but I kept up the best I could. You are definitely determined to run fast, which reminds me of my approach to each car I've acquired.
Anyway, here's some timeslips from my Crossfire days to give you an idea of what to expect. My best 60' was 1.57, which is quicker than any vehicle I've ever owned. However, that was only accomplished with nitrous.
Mimi05SRT6 is the fastest and quickest I've seen for the amount of mods. In other words, he ran 11.7 without pissing away all his money. It was no easy task beating his time, and it took a lot of modding and $ to do it.

I don't want to get offtrack here but you Anthony, Jim, Doc and a couple others took the time to answer as best as possible. This is the function of a forum, the sharing of information for the increased enjoyment of the sport for all. Maybe Mimi will share the secret of the 11's with minimal mods listed. These cars are costly after the DCAI, pulley and tune. Knowing what to expect with the mods available is important. I figure I will get a 5% increase in SC rpm's at the SC pulley. I don't know why but I run 18-19psi with the mods listed which is high according to JR McDaniel who sold me the 178/PSK. I sent him a short datalog showing the 18psi and I believe the 19 also. 5% could be an increase of about 1psi or 20psi. that seems to be where I will not need excessive amounts of fuel mods and tuning. In fact it could be my AFR's could be leaned to be closer to the 12.2:1 goal I have if Jerry has me a bit rich which I would suspect. I believe from all of the posting and PM's plus research that a pump and an adjustable regulator(and free flow filter) should be all I will need.
If I have the stock pulley turned to 69mm I would get an 8% increase or almost a 2psi increase. The SC would then spin at about15,500rpm. Too high or not. I cannot run Rob's heat exchanger due to lack of room seeing I have an SLK. Not sure what could be done to help cooling. I have a wideband O2 ordered but it is delayed again, might have to wait until the end of the month. Then have it and all pulleys installed the same day with a run to see what the AFR's are with the current tune and the 155/65 pulleys. My timing jumps all over the place for no reason that I can see. I will also stop running TORCO and stay with the 93 octane tune. Just wait now. 70 or 69?

Steve (32krazy!) ran an aftermarket heat exchanger on his SLK with no problems. You might want to contact him and find out which one. I'm sure he posted about it on here.

Pretty sure he'll say it was the Amsoil that he ran in it.
Hope all is well w/ Mimi; haven't heard from him in a while.
