Default SLK32/SRT6 Instrument cluster question

I have recently purchased a 2005 SRT6. I also own a 2005 C55 AMG. I am an electrical engineer and my son is a Mechanical engineer student.

My son is very ambitious and has done extensive mechanical and electrical work to the C55 over the last 3 years.

My question is, I really like the SLK32 instrument cluster and was thinking about replacing the SRT6.

Unfortunately the they have different max speed so the calibration is different. slk32 goes to 200 and SRT6 goes to 180.

Does anyone know what would need to be done to change the calibration?

Since both clusters read the speed info off the CAN bus from the ABS module ( which I think are the same ), and it gets it's input from the tone rings at the wheels ( which I think are the same ), there is a good chance it will work fine. The cluster has it's own microprocessor and an EEPROM with data related to the platform.

Besides, I thought the SRT6 went to 200 anyway and the NA to 160.
Guess I'm wrong again.

Would this mod need you to need you to also use the SLK32 steering wheel as you control the cluster with the steering wheel switches??? Would be very interested to see if this works because if it did it would allow you to go into the DYNO mode, a function we are unable to use.

Got it backward, SLK32 goes to 180

What type of info is in the instrument cluster EEPROM?

Would it impact operation?

Also, I don't think there are any steering wheel controls on the slk32 so I don't think that is an issue.

EEPROM has stuff like the oil change interval etc.

Do you know where the mileage information is stored?

When you buy a used instrument cluster, they always list the mileage.

It's in the EEPROM too.

Is this any use, seems a simple way to get the same look.

I still have mine, if you want it. But it's coded to my old VIN; you'll have to have someone code it to your VIN. Rcompart (Rudy) did mine.

It functions perfectly fine except the fuel gauge -- but please be aware that the fuel map in a M112 and M112K are apparently different. That was the main issue. The silver looks great installed.

At night, it looks a bit out of place because it's a deep amber color, and everything else in the interior is backlit in a green hue.

$150 if you're interested.

Added some photos below. I never converted the SRT-6 to these gauges because I liked seeing 200

Is this your car/dash?

It's white so I guess I don't understand since you said "I never converted the SRT-6 to these gauges because I liked seeing 200"

You also said "I still have mine, if you want it. But it's coded to my old VIN"

If you have it how much to ship to me? You can PM me if you like, thanks!

Sorry, I should have explained more. In the photos I posted above, the SLK32 gauges were installed in my Limited Coupe (that's why I mentioned fuel map issues). When it was totaled, we removed the SLK32 gauges (which were coded to my Limited Crossfire's VIN) and I have just had them stored ever since. I never installed them in my SRT-6 because I liked having 200 on the dash, even if it was woefully optimistic LOL

Shipping within the continental US will be $15. So, $165 total and they're yours.

I can post photos of the gauges by themselves tonight if you'd like.

Best regards,
