Obdii??
can someone please comment on the value of this particular obdII unit:
iCarsoft MBII for Mercedes Benz/Sprinter/Smart Professional Diagnostic Tool Scanner, New Version??
is the the proper one? will it reset codes, etc and cover the majority of the important vehicle function areas?? if there is a better unit for the srt6, please let me know what you suggest. i searched for comments on OBDII units and only got more confused by all the various opinions regarding these units. unfortunately many of the threads were pretty old which didn't help, l would appreciate any suggestions about the best home use unit to get.
thanks,
steve

I'll comment. I have no knowledge of the above mentioned unit, but I can speak for the LAUNCH CRP123 scanner. I am very happy with it, it does all the codes and resets ( including SRS ), does data streaming and is easy to use.
i appreciate your response.

SrS244,
I as well have no experience with the device you refer to.
I use a app/odbII device from blue driver (bluedriver.com), works well for what I need it to do.
- reset and read codes
- freeze frame to capture instantaneous readings
- smog precheck
- Mode 6
The app and device firmware have been upgraded multiple times since I purchased.

ron, thanks for the input.

I have yet to find anything better than Torque Pro. Problem is that the good ones for a Merc (like Carly Pro for Mercedes) start with the 2005 R171 and do not cover the 2000-2004 SLK320/SLK32AMG which is the Crossfire platform.
Good to know so as not to consider it. Thanks
In your previous post when you mentioned this scanner you said that it supposedly reset the SRS codes and U Tube videos showed it resetting them, was that on a Crossfire?
For proof positive, I boxed it up and sent it to Crystal who has replaced a bag and needs a reset. Haven't heard back from her yet.
Nice unit BUT, won't work with an apple computer. How do I know? Been there done that.
That should be a good test and good to know.
I used it to diagnose a passenger door air bag malfunction. It scanned all systems including DRB. Was able to reset Airbag light.
I borrowed the unit and liked it so well, I bought one for Santa to give me for Christmas.

You are referencing the LAUNCH CRP123, right ?
OK I give Amazon "LAUNCH CRP123" and get a Whole Bunch (c) of hits (more than 6) all apparently from Launch. Which, if any or all, are we talking about ?
Apparently you need a special scanner (Mercedes ?) to reset airbag faults. So far have failed to find anything under about $400 that can clear airbag faults in all Crossfires.

Oh, Icarsoft.
What I need is one device that can interface or send reports to a PC and can handle scans and resets particularly airbag resets on both a '07 Crossfire and an '01 MB SLK320 (same R170 platform) without having to spend $700 on a C4.
Even if they need different chips for each.
