Default My SRT Huge issue!!

I did a muffler delete... Custom welded a y-pipe and stainless tips... Without the supercharger kicked in, it sounds awesome! When the supercharger is engaged, I get a "tire screeching - howling" sound! Has this ever happened to anybody??? Help!

I had the same issue with my SRT. The problem is the shape of the "Y".
Redid the "Y" and the squealing sound went away.
Think the angle of the "Y" determines the sound that is made.

Thank thank you so much.... I've had several issues trying to resolve this including making a slit in the exhaust and Welding a piece of stainless up in there to break the turbulence... Which still did not resolve the issue. Thank you for your reply.

I been hoping someone would try the exhaust I did on their srt, removing rear cats and with mf dual in/out in place of rear cats and duals all the way back.

My Y looked similar to yours. I replaced the Y with a U and she sounds sweeeet now!

I had a similar problem with my modified SRT6 with stock exhaust. It turned out to be loss of traction and serious tire squeal when the right pedal was depressed to agressively.

Seriously, I did once put a u-shaped pipe just like the one pictured in a TVR once and the sound could not have been improved. I never considered a V vs. a U making a difference but I imagine there is some mathimatical reason it would.

It would be a shame to take apart all those beautiful tig welds!

From what I can see it looks like there is a reduction at the head end of each Y then a further reduction aft of that, when it goes into the single pipe. I would think this would cause some back pressure, maybe the source of your sound.

Thanks Steve, I would hate to cut it off and start over, but sometimes, you have to do what you don't want to!! The reduction is only .060 so I don't see that being the problem. But, at this point, it's getting aggravating! Lol

Thanks... I talked to a couple engineers, several theories, but still no reason why! 😲

At .060 reduction, I wouldn't see that as an issue. But then again, I'm not an engineer and I could be very wrong!
