Default Halfshafts

Am I correct in assuming the two halfshafts are identical and interchangeable?

According to the parts list they are the same on both sides for 2004 but the 2005 year has a different parts I think for different models. Confusing.
Look at the Parts Manual in the documentation thread.
The 2004s fit differently to the later shafts if I recall. Fit new boots while you are at it, thatbrubber is getting old, buy the Mercedes numbered boots.

Thanks, yes, I already ordered new boots. The one boot was cracked and that CV joint seemed a bit cranky, hence the change, so now I(;m thinking this was the cause of my rear end noise but since I have a new differential, I might as well change that also. Thanks again for the info.

I had a bad boot and replaced the axle from ebay for about 85$ plus shipping. 2005 both are the same. Woody
