Default Dye for internal touch-up

My Crossfire has the body colour 'Sapphire Silver Blue Metallic.'

The cabin interior is in a similar colour.

Can a member advise me where to get a dye for the seats, door cards and dash please.

Also the headlight lenses dull over again very quickly after treating - any ideas please.

Peter

Here is a pdf of all the Chrysler colors by year. Find your year and you will see the paint code. The interior colors and code is at the end of each year. paintguide
Your interior is probably Dark slat gray and Medium slate gray. No interiors were Sapphire Silver Blue Matallic.

When I touched up my interior I used products from Leather Works. It has stood the test of time as the areas I refinished look like the day i applied the stain. It works really well. Thing is the product is more like a paint than a stain. I also got the tinting toner so I could match the colors as time has faded everything. I think the Medium Slat Grey color is Leather Works # 6559S. I also used their color prep and cleaner.

When you get your headlights good and clean/polished ( auto parts stores have kits) you can buy clear vinyl film ( kit by Expel ) to cover the headlight plastic and then use Mequiar's Plastic X to keep then shinny and new looking. I refinished my headlights 14 years ago and they look new. Both the vinyl and Plastic protects from UV rays

You can check here: https://www.seatdoctors.com/chrysler...re-leather-dye

I used it on my 2005 SRT and it worked well.

Thank you so much Zip!
It appears to me that the interior colours are light slate grey and dark slate grey, but I could be wrong and it is, as you say, medium & dark slate grey.
A paint and a dye is to me vastly different, but will obviously accept that you done the right thing in this respect. It is small white marks on the door cards that made me want to obtain some form of touch-up, otherwise the interior is good. However, again it may be what I have got used to and needs renovation.
The seats, are they leather or plastic? As know it is the driver's seat that suffers the most. Would the same paint be ideal for this job?

I assume that you didn't use Mopar as Leather works are cheaper?
Though I have heard of Mequiars, Leather Works and Expel are unknown to me.
Are their products available in the UK?
One lens is very bad, perhaps because I unavoidably hit a deer on the motorway, which also broke the rubber strap attachment behind the headlight unit - hence the reason to obtain a new unit. However the ones I sourced are expensive. Any ideas?
I have endeavoured to clean the lenses though failed to get them completely clear, particularly the damaged one though will try again. Your advice however, is greatly appreciated!

Any further tips that will be of help to maintain the car, which I believe will be a valuable classic eventually, will be most welcomed.

Peter

As far as the headlights, once polished they need a clear UV seal applied to last longer an alternative is the clear plastic vinyl film that Zip 439 mentioned . I had a crack due to hail and covered mine with a tinted film to help hide the crack but also had to put in brighter headlight bulbs to compensate.

Yes, stain to me is a very low viscosity, like water, but the product from Leather Works is thicker like a paint. It works really well as mine has been on the leather of the seats and the steering wheel for at least ten years and I couldn't go back and find the exact spots I touched up as it blended in and looks like original. The bolster side of the seats are leather the seat center is vinyl. Thing is the color you get probably won't be exact. You will need to work with the toner to get it just right to match your interior. Not all that difficult; Just be patient and persistent so don't be in a hurry. As far as using it on the vinyl I suppose you can. It should work fine.

"Are their products available in the UK" Go to their websites and check shipping. I don't know. I have the vinyl film on three Mercedes and it works really well, It also helps protect from gravel thrown up as you drive.

If you only want to refurbish your door plastic as your seat leather is good then try going to "www.needswings.com" . It is a small supplier of Crossfire parts and and very good support. I believe they have paint available specific for the plastic interior. Send them an email and they will ship to UK. You can also check your local auto parts store for interior paint, but I'm sure you will need to play around and match colors by mixing.

Same thing with the headlights. Use a kit ( many have used the 3m product) and be persistent to get it completely clear. Here in the States many detail shops offer the service. No alternative to replacing a head light other than shell out the money. If the plastic isn't broken, just the rubber seal around the light you should be able to polish the lens back to new unless it has deep gouges. You may be able to find just the rubber seal from a junk yard. The interior of the light housing gets dirty over time. There are several ways to attempt cleaning the interior. I have swished methanol around inside ( I had the headlight removed from the car), but it didn't really make much difference. They were not all that bad anyway and look new from the outside.

Good Luck, and I hope you are right about being a "classic". Hopefully in the not too distant future as they are already 20 years old.

Click on the attached link, this company was the original supplier to the Karmann Factory when the Crossfires were built. I've used their products to touch up the console in my SRT6, matching perfectly to the original paint. They may also have paint for the other interior parts as well.
Good Luck,
Dennis

Hello Dennis,

Please excuse the late acknowledgement & thank you so much for the information provided!

As you no doubt know the interior, though mainly dark grey also is two tone i.e. light grey.

I assume the same concern provides both?

If you know the best place to obtain a replacement headlight - not only is the acrylic beyond redemption, but I unfortunately hit a deer on the motorway and the upper connection is also damaged.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply

Peter

Peter, your best bet for a head lamp is a UK Auto breaker as new units are no longer available. North American headlamps are not compatible with RHD cars. Good luck!
