How long?
I've been washing and waxing my cars for longer than I care to remember. I use Meguiars gold class car wash, use a micro fiber towel to wash and a clean one to dry. I also use Meguiars gold class polish and wax and do it frequently. I live in a area that has very hard water, so I bought a cartridge filter to put on the water line that I wash the car with. My problem is this. I can wash and wax my car on a Saturday. Normally it will be washed twice by the next Saturday. The car shines, but it feels like there isn't a speck of wax on it. Is this normal? Should it still feel slick after only a week? Just wondering if this is normal. Any info appreciated, Thanks Bob
What color is your XF, does the finish look dull or visually looks like it does not have wax on it? I have used the products that you have mentioned above with great results. I wax my Roadster Limited at least 3 times a month, and the finish between washes and waxing is always as smooth as glass. Have you tried removing all of the wax and check the condition of your paint, the use of a clay bar may be in order. Here is the regiment that I follow:
1) Wash car twice, I use meguiars NXT Car Wash...then dry the car.
2) Apply 2 "THIN" coats of 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, allow the glaze to cure for about 15 minutes between coats.
3) Apply 2 "THIN" coats of Meguiars NXT wax, allow the wax to cure for about 15 minutes between coats.
4) Apply 2 "THIN" coats of Turtlewax ICE synthetic carnauba wax, this will make the paint pop and give you depth of color. a few hours later follow up with the Turtle Wax ICE detailer and you are good to go.
ALSO ALWAYS USE GOOD MICRO FIBER CLOTHS.
My car always looks like it is made of black glass, so I have been told. I know this is alot of work, but well worth it.

Mine was the same way after sitting on the dealers lot getting sun baked and rained on. First noticed when I was washing the car, the soapy microfiber wash mitt would drag across the surface. I used the Griots Garage products on mine. Wash, clay bar, polish (twice), wax. Both polish and wax applied with orbital. No swirl marks, deep shine.

I'm sure your going to want to use up the GC and thats fine, but when you get something else, give my formula a try. If you've got any questions, PM or email me, I'm always willing to help out.
