Live in OHIO and need a from plate bracket, any suggestions, please

I live in California (which is a two plate state) and also refuse to ruin a perfectly good front bumper cover. The original OEM bracket is about $30 from the dealer but it requires two holes to be drilled front and centered in the brumper cover. I have been thinking of buying a stock length of aluminum "L" channel and fabricating something that could be mounted on the underside of the bumper above the lower grill. It could be centered or offset. I'd say centered becuase I'm **** about symetry. Regardless, it shouldn't be that hard to do.
