Default Dentpro for a tiny door ding - $119 ouch!!!

My wife put a small door ding on the passengers side of our CF, it's only about the diameter of a valve stem cover. Dentpro is coming by the house on Monday. The house call will be $119 less a 20% AAA member discount.

What have you forum members had to pony up for repair of minor door dings? Just curious.

I had 2 removed recently from the Crossfire. A very shallow one on the passenger door and a significant one on the passenger sail panel. Don't know how they got there I picked it up from the Dealers that way, but that's another story. Dent Guy came out and did the repair in my driveway. He asked for $50 and I gave him $60......... I wanna be sure he'll come out again next time I need him. Just as a point of reference, we had a hail storm go through the area twice last summer and the hood on my Explorer got nailed with 27 dings, roof was OK must be heavier gauge. Anyway, I had it repaired in my driveway, different guy and he charged me a hundred and a half!

The guy I go to charges about 75$ per ding. I have to go to him so I'd say with the 20% discount you are getting a good deal.

The dent guy I use has charged from $30 to $50 for quarter size dings and a crease about 3" long.

I had a dent so small removed that nobody saw it but me (but thats all that counts, right?). Came to the house and within half an hour I couldn't tell you where the dent ever was. About $90 as I recall and worth every penny.

I've never had to have it done, but if the repair is done right, it's priceless. If it's not right, you were ripped off super plussssss!

Woody don't try it on the door it will make it worse. I had a dent guy come to my office to repair a golf ball dent and he charged me $75. It looks prefect. I tried the tool you noted and it made the dent worse on my daughter's car door. It came out too far. Re: thegolfball dent it got about 75% of itthe out. This dent guy said he wish I had not tried because it makes it harder for him to make it perfect . Why, because it pulled out the dent off center.

Also re: the original post. The guy who fixed mine said that some door dents on the crossfire are impossible to fix cause they can't get the tool to the area because of a bar in the door.

Thank you all. After reading your experiences I don't feel quite so bad. Next to Manhattan, we probably pay the biggest premium for services in the country.

One more thought, when I called Dentpro's 800 number, I offered to meet the tech at the local MBZ dealer not far from my house. The dispatcher said that I might get stuck waiting behind other customers and it would be better if he came directly to my house, afterwards I'm wondering if he was trying to insure they got there franchise cut and prevent me from cutting a better "off the books cash deal" dickering with the tech.

Oh well, live and learn.

Am I too cynical? Your thoughts?

Woody - suggest you listen to RMADERMAN - Unless you know what you are doing you can make it worse.

I met the dent guy at a honda delaer. Cost $75.00 for two small dings.
BTW - I put those in my door with my wifes car. I was so PO'ed, but at least it was me, and not some other idiot.
