Default California Dusters

Wow, California Dusters collect dust faster than my black crossfire.
I had heard about these dusters but being a bit cynical about such claims I dismissed it as hype, wrong again. My car sat in the garage for nine weeks after it had been polished, the dust was evident after two hours and after nine weeks looked deep enough to plant seeds.
I wanted to throw the cover over it but did not want to cover the dust so I purchased a CD, a few light licks and the dust was gone and they say it gets better with age, not like us at all.
As they say I have no affiliation to the makers, but I wish I had.

even though i have one i wouldnt recommend using it. dragging dust over the paint will have a scratching effect over time.
better to use a detailer spray to lift the dust then a waffleweave or microfiber to wipe it away, wiping it in one direction not in a circle

When they are new, the have some wax or oil on them that leaves streaks, more noticeable on dark colors.

They need to be broke-in, they get better with use.

Washing them is a no-no.

I still prefer detail spray an micro fiber.

Yes, they do work well and they do get better with age; but never ever put downward pressure on it. Shake the old stuff off and LIGHTLY move it over the car.
--I've seen people use them like a broom and press downward as they brush and complain the thing doesn't work because it leaves scratches...Sometimes it's good to follow directions.

Detail spray with a microfiber cloth does work better.

On the dust. I'm betting you park it in a garage with a cement floor that is unpainted. These type of floors throw off a very fine dust that will settle on your paint, especially on newer floors. This dust is very abrasive. Be careful. Using a good quality garage paint (Sam's Warehouse has a good one at a reasonable price--follow the directions).

The instructions say they have paraffin oil on them and that they may streak when new. Also you are supposed to let them air dry for two days after you open them up, I waited one day and did not see any streaks.
It is not a scrub brush so I barely let it touch the surface, I inspected it and could see no streaks or scratching. It certainly picked up the dust rather than moving the dust around, I'm impressed.

Are they still in business? I missed the commercials this Christmas.

Best thing since eggs where invented. I use mine regularly between washes, but avoid the rocker-panel areas -- areas likely to harbor larger road grits. Shake well after each swipe.

Now, buy a long-handled, soft-bristled brush for the wheels and never wash the car again.

Last I heard they were near bankruptcy and it was going to be a very close shave to avoid it.
