Default Dual Exhaust Sound Clip

Alright Woody, against my better judgment I took the car out last night under the cover of darkness and jumped on the freeway and did a quick on-ramp off-ramp turn around.

The mic on my Sony PD150 sucks because it pick-up too much ambient sound, but you'll get the idea ! I really need someone to record it from behind the car as I'm driving.

Fixed the clip for ya'll, now only 37mb.

Thanks for the 'stealth' mission Derek. Wow, that is sounding fantastic even from the camera mic. I love the snarl as it starts pulling through the upper rev range. Does it pass the track noise limit?

...I'm off outside now to tear into my ABS wiring loom to sort the dyno problem. Also picking up the ECU boxes later. I'll let you know how it goes.

We checked it at the shop per the spec. 3 ft off the ground at 8 ft from the pipes and it barely made it.. I think if I didn't have the turn-down tips it would have failed.

If I get the Startech or Borla exhaust will is sound like that? Or are you running some sort of off road setup? If so how does the Borla or Startech exhaust sound? Worth it? I don't care about horsepower.

This is strictly off-road, I don't know how the others would sound. Perhaps you can find another member who has one installed and ask for a sound clip.

HDDP...

The sound you provided was evidence that with the right combo of
upgrades the exhaust note has now been upgraded to COMMANDING!

Most importantly... how did it feel during your run? Quicker accelerator responses? Did it "feel" more "torquey"?

Thanks.

Honestly I had barely enough time from the start of the on-ramp to the freeway before I was already over the speed limit. I am very sketchy about driving this thing on the street since it's plastered with big #'s and sounds like a track car. Remember I live in Los Angeles, the home of high speed police chases, I don't want to be one of them... I'll shoot some stuff at my next rack event, that way I won't be squirrelly about getting my car impounded.

Unfortunately, it's a lot slower than many of the other cars on the track. But I'm trying to change that... Got an extra $30,000 you can put to the cause ?

i have a similar setup, dual exhaust, removed cats *no glasspacks or anything in place* except i did put it into a single inlet flowmaster 40 series.
sounds louder and deeper than yours. mine is very similar to a 4.6l mustang.

but since you have to keep it under a certain sound level it sounds alright.

where'd you disappear to boy ? Since you were touting your flowmaster and how it sounded like a mustang and you thought you were so cool, I decided to create a clip of my crossfire (a) when it had the magnaflow (b) with the new dynomax race mufflers... these are recorded on the exact same highway onramp, only a year apart... with the camera in the identical position...

The proof is always in the pudding boy... let's hear that flowmaster of yours...

actually someone thought it would be fun to try to steal my car, and broke my window alarm went off and they ran at about 2:30 am monday morning... so, i have been tending to that but since you wanted a clip, here you go, here's your link...keep in mind i was using my palm treo 650 as my recording device, and it was just being held on the console, by my gf... so the sound quality isn't the greatest
keep in mind i live in kansas, where their are no smog tests, and their is virtually no risk of being pulled over for being too loud.

here's one at startup.

5 roll to 100 mph.

and here's another.
launch wot to around 75 or so.

Rattle. On a track car. I wonder what would cause that...

Derek, I kinda like the Magnaflow but would probably have to put some sort of resonator in there too. I'd like a little more rumble out of the car but don't care much for the tinny sound that these little motors get in the upper rpm.
I guess I've spoiled myself with the big V8 sound over the years. There's no way to get this little guy to sound that way so I'll probably just leave it alone and enjoy the quiet cruise. I remind myself of that when I take the hot rod out on the highway. It's got straight 3" pipes after the turbos. While it sounds nice at WOT and at cruise nights, it definitely creates a drone on the highway.

Too bad I'm over 1,000 miles away. I'd like to see that wee beastie run.

actually we have damn near the exact setup, and mine rattled at first, its cause of the way the hangers hold on to the muffler on the back -- i wouldn't really call his car a race car any more than almost any other crossfire its just got a few suspension mods.

keep in mind i have been around many track cars, and alot of VERY FAST 1/4 mile cars, and don't really no anyone who doesn't mind the rattle.

now i'm confused...

have you seen the gallery? what about the dual exhaust thread you're reading right now? have you seen his headers thread? the intake thread? the roll cage thread? the racing seat and harness? the SRT brake upgrade? the rim and tire combo? the videos

i was being facetious...but i still wouldn't consider that a track car...consider this i come from the land of f-body's were for a car to be considered a track car, it must be pumping at least 500+ rwhp, suspension must be complete, swingarms, ect., and be able to hang with the best of them.

not just a brake kit, exhaust and intake, and a seat.

my point here is not to put his car down, it was he called my bluff that i didn't have the exhaust i said, and i posted videos showing me with the exhaust i had...nuff said, so lets talk once again about the exhaust systems.

No offense to anyone cept JP, but they both sound like my grandmothers V-6 buick when the muffler fell off. I sure hope there was a hp increase involved out of all this work.

Ever hear a 350 Z with performance exhaust...? Man they sound nice. Like a car with some technology.

maybe were not listening to the same cars, but I would say both exhausts mine and hddp, although different in tone sound very aggressive...no one I have spoke with has said anything bad about the sound, and I've heard nothing but compliments from owners of crossfire, Q35, slk350,vettes, ect. so I must say your gmas V6 pos must get some thumbs up.
