poor mans dyno
poor mans dyno
since buying my crossfire and joining this forum i have read so many times how hard it is to dyno our cars due to sensors controlling the esp traction controll etc.
so while hunting around the web i came across this...
http://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=l&ai...jWCTnIq3eol7aA
it is supposed to be really quite accurate and gives you (after inputting your cars weight) hp both max and average, 0-60 times, standing 1/4 times and tells you how many g's you are pulling around a corner
i have looked on a number of forums for reviews etc. and this little gizmo really is quite accurate.
normally retailing at about $200 i searched on ebay and found it for $50!!! anyway ive bought one.
has anyone here used one???

Re: poor mans dyno
Sounds like you got a good buy. There some others out there too. Give us a report after you have used it a while.

Look up the GTech Pro RR: http://gtechpro.com/rr.html
I just picked up one for US $175. It has more features than that of the the Passport.

i found this review.

Its a bit of a read but interesting. also shows that once calibrated these gizmos do exactly what they say on the tin.
so if you have not got a track or drag strip local to you and cant find a dyno that can test our pride and joy, or just wanna play with your pals comparing each others cars you really cant go wrong.
like i said i only paid $56 on ebay for mine (brand new!) BARGAIN!!!!

Re: poor mans dyno
Just a question....when you use the G-Tech and enter the car's weight do you include that of the driver as well? Doesn't look like it from the posting on the weight. I had one of the first models years ago....got it for free when I bought a set of tires (can't remember what brand) and I never used it.

Re: poor mans dyno
Well to tell you the truth i haven't recieved my escort g-timer GT2 yet as ive ordered it from the states and still waiting for delivery. i havent seen a bad report on it either or the gtech. what i liked about the gt2 was that it gives forwards sideways and braking g results.
also its a bargain at $50 compared to the $300 for the g-tech. the way ive read it is acuracy is determined by the importance of inputting the right weight pitch ect. and to calibrate it.
the gt2 auto calibrates when you press the 'start run' button on the remote and will hold 10 runs in memory.
saying that i also read that the g-tech has more involved software and can memorise the input data for upto 4 cars.
either way they are both cool units and should be a good if not dangerous thing to have. just make sure you play with it away from the boys in blue!
