x-fire coupé modified into a srt-6?
Hi, I just bought a crossfire. not really used to those types of cars. i have the normal coupé, not srt-6, insurance were too expensive $1,700/yr compared to $5,300/yr. i wanted to know if it was really complicated modifying my normal coupé engine into a srt-6 engine?
thanks!
thanks!
yes and no one has done it ... HDDP is in process but his is a gutted track car so down time is not a issue.
edit: to add to it ... its beyond complicated ... brain surgery is complicated ... srt swap into a regular is untried, tedious work, and massive amounts of research that will take a year of off time to do correctly. simply put ... not worth it ... call STS and get a remote mount turbo for a fraction of the cost and make more power.

It has been proven that at the current SRT-6 prices, it is cheaper to BUY an srt-6 then try and modify your coupe into one..
There's to many things that need to be upgraded / changed, not just a direct engine swap.

Probably cheaper just to buy and insure a real SRT6 than fork over the money to mod a Limited to SRT6 spec. Plus, try wrecking such a modded car and see what your insurance company says about all those modifications!! Talk about expensive.
it's not hard, find an srt6 on the street , get the vin number, then order the key from the dealership, ta da, you now own an srt6.

Insurance isn't bad unless you're a bad driver living in a strict state. Here in FL I'm under 25 nd pay a little less than $1,200 a year for the SRT (roadster no less)

I guess trying to insure a stolen car is out the window as well........just saving a little more cash!

I pay < $1K/yr for my SRT6 & Ford Ranger.
Must be nice to have such low insurance. I have a 2005 SRT-6 and I am a 25 yr old male living in Sothern CA and I pay $220 a month. I had a clean record until two months ago now my insurance is going up to $440 a month because of a ticket I got. I got clocked doing 104 mph which resulted in a 30 day suspention of my licence, $1,200 fine and two points on my record with no traffic school. I am just glad I didn't get caught doing 170 mph which I was doing just before getting clocked.
If I would have got caught going that fast I would have been arrested and had my car taken away along with my license.
