getting a tune and running nitrous??
hey guys just wondering if anyone on here is running nitrous on a n/a crossfire id like to discuss some things, i am looking to get a tune for everyday driving off the bottle to have more power but still be compatible to run the nitrous, and run fine both on and off the bottle and get the most power i can get out of both, unlike inmotion and everyone who offers a tune or ecu flash, but they are not compatible with nitrous because of timing issues. who has anyone gone with for this? and how did you make out

So let me get this straight, you want a tune that lets you run on the bottle and off the bottle but gives you good power on the bottle and off the bottle but is safe on the bottle and off the bottle but when on the bottle it still will be a tune that can run off the bottle and when off the bottle you can turn on the bottle and run then turn off the bottle but will still be able to run on the botlle but will then turn it off the bottle so you do not use up all the bottle but will be able to sill run on the bottle by turning on the bottle when the car is off the bottle?
just call inmotion tuning and ask them. 99% of the answers you would get here would only be people guessing. for a safe tune with nitrous you will be running rich off the bottle and will lose some power.
inmotion wanted nothing to do with it a while ago when i called, i don't know about now ill have to call, but apparently tvt has it figured out and are confident i will be good to go, with there injectors and a tune, i should see real good gains off the nitrous and still be able to run it with no detonation, and will not run rich off the nitrous. now just waiting for a time when i can have the car down for a few days to send the ecu

Why would you need separate tunes for off-the-bottle and on-the-bottle? You're not going to be running the bottle all the time, and the nitrous kits usually come with the equipment you need without bothering with a tune. A dry kit will spray nitrous, and will send a signal to your fuel injectors to toss in more fuel to compensate, and a wet kit will spray the nitrous and fuel together so you don't even have to rely on the injectors. If you want a safe, simple setup, run the nitrous with the following switches in series:
1. WOT microswitch for the pedal (should be included with the kit)
2. activation switch (mounted somewhere on the dashboard/console)
3. RPM window switch (general rule of thumb is don't spray nitrous below 3000 rpm, for a basic setup)
By requiring that all these switches are activated before the nitrous comes on, you run stock without the nitrous, and you run extra fuel when the nitrous is on. All without getting into tuning the car.
Only other thing to worry about is spark plugs. Make sure not to get platinum, and if you want to be safe, run one heat range colder.
On another note, what's the difference between running nitrous and methanol for the SRT-6's? I know that a baby nitrous shot would add power and cool the IAT simultaneously for an F/I car, but I'm pretty fuzzy on what methanol can do. Does it only cool, or can it add power separately as well? Is it cheaper to run (i.e., refills) than nitrous? Thanks.

A bit off topic...... What is methanol injection? Is this for pure racing or does it have any usefulness in the real world??
nobody is looking for seperate tunes maybe you didn't read into it, and the wot and all that has nothing to do with what this all started with, i have recently solved the problem, i was looking for a tune for my car to get the most out of it without the bottle but still be able to run the bottle when needed, thats all, understand better?, now with most tunes timing is increased and that is likely to cause detonation with the use of nitrous, thats why inmotion and powerchip and those say do not use nitrous with that ecu flash, so i needed a custom tune to still allow me to use the nitrous with the tune, which tvt says they can do. i now am going to be ordering injectors and getting a tune for this.

"Why Water/Methanol Injection? The Boost Cooler® is Snow Performance's latest generation water/methanol injection system. The primary function of water/methanol injection is to provide "chemical intercooling". In gasoline engines, as with any intercooler, this suppresses detonation so more power producing boost and timing can be utilized. Water, with its high latent heat of vaporization cools the intake charge and combustion. Methanol cools the charge and combustion but also acts like an extremely high octane fuel (some researchers claim as high as 120 octane) as well as adding more oxygen to combustion."
Oh yea, and it's a nice way to help keep your engine clean.
Check with forum mermber "psuperti".....he has been running NOS for awhile.

thanks problem already taken care of, and that dude running nitrous on that crossfire has a powerchip i believe and thats crazy because you are not supposed to run nitrous with those ecu flashes, it needs a tune that tvt is now offering only. it is a custom tune and that is the only way to be safe when looking for a chip or ecu flash or tune or whatever you wanna call it.
These guys may be of help...

hey thanks but if you read you would realize i am not looking for some nitrous tune, i will explain again it has been dealt with already and i was looking for a tune to gain off the bottle but still be able to run the bottle unlike most ecu flashes that advance timing and say not to run nitrous with the tune. so i needed a custom tune to still be able to run the nitrous, it in no0 way is about tuning nitrous. thanks.
i love how people keep commenting on this without reading.is there a way to end a thread already?
