I just did a trip to Zion(Utah) this past weekend running on E85 and mostly driving 80mph and averaged 17.5mpg. I also did a couple spirited runs to 135mph when traffic wasn't around. I didn't see a single decent car on the road the entire trip until I was within 2 miles of my house(coming back). I lined up with a newer Porsche Carrera with the typical "I'm better than you and will prove it" driver and I owned his **** once the light turned green. I let off after I put two car lenghts on him..........when he finally caught up I yelled "you should've bought the turbo". He wasn't too happy. LMFAO

Sunoco 94 here, with 6800 miles, as for mileage? I'f I was concerned about mileage I would have bought a Smart car instead of a SRT :0)

MY SRT hasn't seen any fuel except for BP Ultimate (93 Octane). Have over 62k on the
odometer and no problems that I can or could attribute to fuel. Economy is actually pretty
good when I compute the cost of gas for my Crossfire or my Jeep. The Jeep, when run on
87 octane costs more per mpg than does the SRT running on 93 octane. When I did the
calculations, the price of gas was much less, but the difference between the price of regular
and Ultimate has remained the same, so it should still be the same difference (percentage
wise) now as then. Then, it was $0.17/mile to run the Jeep and $0.14/mile to run the SRT.

The highest octane we can get here in CA is 91, damm, but, whata yea going to do? (My favorite Tony Soprano line). I received my Xfire June 6, with 28 miles on its, had 477 when she was rear ended by a woman with no clue, luckily only minor cosmetic damage, and she goes in the shop on Tuesday for some touchup, thank god it wasan't serious, has 640 miles on it, Im always paranoid of the loons out there who are doing everything else excpet paying attention to what is front of them. anyway, wish we had 93 octane here.

Chevron or Shell 91+ octane for me......
Tried cheeper gas got crappy gas mileage and poor performance.

Jeep with 5.7 Hemi same thing my wife drive it to work. Cheep gas over a tank a week to drive back and forth to work. Chevron or Shell 91+ octane and only 3/4 of a tank a week for the same drive.

You do the math.

I always use premium gas, I figure why take any chances just to save a few cents a gallon. I don't think I've ever got less than 25 mpg, (well maybe on the Dragon, trying to hang with a couple of SRT's ) and I've got as high as 30 mpg. a few times.
Since my car always delivers it's best for me, I should certainly return the favor.

Always 93 from day one in my 04 auto Limited. Just turned 20K.

Must be the air in the east, but I cannot get near the mpg some members claim.

Daily commute: 5 miles each way, 17 stop signs or red lights, max speed 35 mph = 20.5

Four fishing trips to the New Jersey shore over the last four weeks.
Back roads: 104 miles each way, average speed 50 = 26.7, best ever
Highway1: 104 miles each way, average speed 65 = 26.4
Highway2: 104 miles each way, average speed 75 = 25.6, includes 45 min stop in traffic
Highway3: 104 miles each way, average speed 80 = 25.4

Is there something wrong with my car, or you guys hyper-milers. I rarely drive the car hard. Several times I have tried really hard to get the best mileage I can for a tank full, all the hyper-miler tricks except turning it off at red lights. But it only give me another .3 mpg. 20.8 local.

Of all the cars I've owned, none has ever reached the EPA estimates. This one is right on par, maybe the closest to the real numbers.

What is the secret to 25-30 mpg every tank? You guys must be using that Tornado thing. Right?

Love to hear some answers from the 30 MPG guys.

Kurt

Consumer Reports tested it and said it actually hurt gas millage if I remember correctly... It at least had no effect. I ordered a Scangauge II, I think this will really help my millage by "training" myself as to my driving habits.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to this thread, but there really is no secret (as far as I know) to get good gas mileage with the Crossfire. Even though the EPA rates the automatics higher, I think the 6 spds can beat em.
I used my car for work yesterday, and put over 350 miles on it. I filled it up to the brim before I started my trip, and again this evening when I filled up. (So I'm sure about exactly how much gasoline I used).
The first part of my trip was Canton to Cleveland, then Cleveland to Pittsburg, all on the Interstates, between 65 and 75 mph. About 25 miles of stop & go city driving in Pittsburg, (sometimes a little heavy on the throttle just to keep from getting run over). On the trip home, I took secondary roads, lots of down and upshifting for the first 1/2 of the trip, and probably averaged 45 mph. But the second 1/2 of the trip home I was moving pretty good, and ran better than 55 or 60 mph (still on 2 lane country roads) with a lot more shifting than I would have been doing on the Interstates.
Then today, 65 miles on mostly 2 lane roads averaging about 50 mph.
The end result, 29.4 mpg.
My car just turned 37k yesterday, completely stock, original air filters, and plugs, and I drive with my window down most of the time, and the AC wasn't on. Oh yeah, my wing is ALWAYS down. No hyper-mileage techniques, and no "Tornado". I do coast when ever I can, as long as I can stay with the flow of traffic, and I try to stay off the brakes as much as possible. I hardly ever down shift to "slow" down, (brake pads cost so much less than replacing a clutch anyway).
My very good friend usually gets better mileage than I do with his Base Crossfire. But "Base" cars do weigh a little less, but I think it's just because he's a better driver than I am.
I'm not exactly sure what a "Scangauge II" is, but an ordinary "vacuum" gauge will help to teach ya to stay off the throttle.

I asked this question about three years ago, because an article quoted a Chrysler Exec who said regular can be used on CrossFire. Got responses, most saying go for it. So I tried it about 2 1/2 years ago. Haven't had any problems. Everyone still drives like turtles, if you ask me.

Mr. Gull, since you will be turning your lease car back in soon, could you do the forum members a "solid" by letting everybody know "geographically" where your car will be, and it's serial #. That way some unsuspecting member won't accidently get stuck with a used XF that's had the wrong fuel in it for the last 2.5 years.
Even though you didn't experience any "problems", that's not to say that the next person who actually "Buys" your old car woun't.
I use to work with a guy who purchased a new car every two years. He said that way he never had any problems to deal with. Oh, and he never changed the oil or the filter on them. (just to save a few bucks) I wouldn't want to get a hold of one of his old rides either.
