Default smog/secondary air pump failure...how can i trick the ecu...

I have determined it is sadly the pump that went bad. I found a benz pump for the slk 3.2 but chrysler says its a diff part....not sure if it is or not...I'd like to simply either delete it via the ecu or find a way to make the ecu recofnize it as functional. Any ideas?

replace it with a new one..............that will make the ECU think it is functional.

It's the same pump. You can just disconnect and buy our Block off Plates or make your own.

The block off plate is a good idea, but if I remove the pump won't the engine light continue to trip? If so, how do I solve that issue? I just don't see the sense in replacing a 800 pump that serves absolutely no purpose as it passes emissions without it. Thanks for any help you can provide

It won't help the CEL problem, but you won't have a faulty pump hooked up to your engine anyway.

If you want another Pump, I have a few at the shop I can sell you. All in working condition, mine only has about 5k on it.

I'm wondering, my pump just went bad, so I had this idea. There is a shop in my town that rewinds electric motors, including new brushes, etc... They rebuild them if you will. I thought this may be a viable solution to one's Air Pump woes. I plan to try it at least, before throwing down for a replacement. Any thoughts or experience in this area are welcome.
