Default Cut off exhaust...

just heard the below on youtube (obviously!) and was curious if it's anyone here and what they've done as it really does sound quite good....

Ehhhh, I think there'd be a lot of drone while driving normally.. Not my cup of tea, but it does sound nice while accelerating.

Sounds just like my car right now without the rear cats and resonator! I'm waiting for my exhaust tips for my Magnaflow since the sound underneath needs to be rerouted more towards the back. It does sound fantastic outside the car but the drone inside the cockpit is unbearable at times.

In fairness I'm currently tooling around in a Ford F150 Lightning with no silencers and I'll admit that that is a tad noisey

the main gripe I have with the xf is that it just seems too damn... civilised - ironically enough this overall civility is one of the things that is persuading me to buy one

Waylander, I got my Muffler removed a year after I got my Crossfire and I will NEVER go back. The drone really is not that bad..maybe because I have a manual and I can shift to a higher gear..but it sounds ABSOLUTELY amazing when you are on the gas. It pops on downshifts too. Its hella cool man. I get compliments daily on how sweet it looks and how sweet she purrs.

like I said the drone I suspect wouldn't be too much of a problem (try running a non-silenced Lightning for 3 years!!)... the lack mufflers might just do the trick (or cherry-bombs!!!)... must also say I did like the MagnaFlows too

is there any performance loss by losing the mufflers?

i ran an offroad mid pipe and dumped flowmasters on my cobra until it got totaled, I really miss the sound, and got nothing but compliments. I wish I could get anything close to the sound out of the 3.2L. but that clip does sound good.

the main issue with the sound is the fact that the XF is (relatively speaking) quite a small engined car - the deep V8 rumble from a big or small block really is hard to beat and I'm already missing it though I'm not missing the fuel bills!!!!

I cut off muffler, then used a 3 in X 2.5 in x2.5 in wye pipe and two chrome tips. then used header baffles in tips to tune sound. No drone! Sounds great!

It did sound quite good, I remember being behind you at the Dragon a few runs Texas.

I still love my magnaflow and everyone behind me said it was great sounding, but sometimes the drone is ridiculous, but still love it

would you use the 3x2.5x2.5 for the limited too? I think I would need 2.5 x2.5 x2.5 y pipe? I may be wrong.. Anyone know the size if the pipe on the base /limited?

I took off the plates he was using to block cutouts that SRTPowa put on this XF and my god... took it out on the town to hang out with the "race kids" i like to call them and even they sayed i was way to loud. I came home at around 3am and was hardly above 2k rpm and it sounded like i was gunning it.. i had to role up the windows to help a lil but even that deep growl was loud as hell and vibrated everything in the car.. I had to put the plates back on but cant wait to get the electric cutout's working its going to be very nice to have on demand but all the time.. noooo wayyy
