Default New Denso plugs and Magnacore wireset = 75 more miles per tank

I never got the fuel milage thing figured out on my srt6. hiway or mixed driving I was always around 22mpg after the change to Denso and Magnacore I now get closer to 26/27 mpg hiway aND 24/25 Mixed with no loss in power. infact the car seems to have a bit more midrange pull to it.

that is weird, i get 24.5mpg mixed driving (including racing at the dragstrip) when i drive 200+ miles each way to race at pittsburgh using $1.50 copper plugs and 27+mpg on the interstate using the same cheapo plugs and stock wires.

Holy crap, you guys get good gas milage! I'm only getting 23 highway (at best), 19-20 mixed.

Maybe I should check my plugs?

It makes a big difference on your mpg how you drive. our hhr ss has the mpg average and instantaneous mpg and by watching that while i am driving i have learned a lot on how to get the most out of it when on trips.

nice track times btw!

That's weird. I only get 17/19 mixed on all stock ignition componets.

it also depends on where you live. if you live where there are a lot of stop lights where you sit and idle a lot or a lot of stop and go traffic that kills your mpg. i am sure if i checked mine in town with the stoplights, etc and nothing else i would average 17-19mpg. i have checked mine multiple times though to the track and back (over 400 miles round trip) and i always average between 24mpg and 27mpg every time). but that is 99% interstate driving.

my drive home from work is almost all downhill so i could nearly coast all the way home if i needed too lol. that does wonders for your mpg

you should see the great curves i have to work and back, it makes the 12 mile trip each way a blast.

I find myself getting decent gas mileage for 2 days....then I get the urge to smash the pedal....just to think all that hard work conserving went to waste on a couple of spirited highway and stop light runs!

lol, i need to hook the datalogger up to the car to see what it gets under full throttle. the ss gets 5 to 8mpg under full throttle but averages 26.7mpg mixed and 29 to 30mpg on the interstate with conservative driving.

I also honestly believe where you live and the brand of gas makes a differance also. All things (gas) are not created equal.

Its all a matter of what you want, mpg or spg (smiles per gallon) If we wanted economy we would have purchased a tin can with a strong rubber band. Winding your way through the gears and/or a lead foot helps keep fresh gas in the tank.
PS, If these plugs and wires made that much difference they would be standard equipment on cars.

I know this sounds like a stupid comment, but some aren't aware of fuel injector cleaner ($3/bottle). I'm not saying its magic or anything. But in my BMW, the daily driver, the mileage starts to fall off after a while (3000-5000miles), use this and picks up like 5mpg. Haven't driven the SRT enough to really make a difference.
But then again if I wanted a green car I would've bought a hybrid. "smiles/gallon" need to start listing this in the car specs.

well I enjoy my sprited drivign but why can't we have both decent MPG and SPM. once I get done making my house more energy eff. I'd like to then turn to the N/A crossfire and try and squeze 40 MPG without changing the motor.

On the way to work each day I have fun when i drive the car but around town i have to take it easy. why? well our town police in a town of around 6,500 residents hands out 20,000+ speeding tickets a year. There is not a road around in this county that does not have 2 or 3 cops running radar so you have to drive like a constipated senior citizen everywhere you go. Luckily my work is in the next county over and you rarely if ever see them running radar lol.

Atune can make a big difference.
Our SRT got 21 MPG when we bought it last January. After Eurocharged De-tuned it for Cathy's driving style we get about 26.5 highway. Still rubs rubber off the rears tires when I want it too.

The NA went from 27.5 to 29.5 highway, this with bigger injectors installed and a tune.

Both of these numbers achieved on our St Louis to Dallas and back trip last week. At the pump together she added about 1/2 gal more to fill her tank than me on around 12 gallon fillups. Did that at least five times on the trip so I'm comfortable with the data.

Tighed, sounds like you need to get two tunes.

How much did the plugs & wire set cost you?

just from the tune you got 5 mpg...wow
I wonder what a tune, new intake, and spark plug wires would put it at, I'm all about upgrades that make more power and give better gas milage

that completely depends on the tune

you can tune for power or mpg.

they are completely different and do not go completely hand in hand.

although if you are running rich currently a tune will gain more power and also mean less gas consumption to achieve the same previous power... thus improving mpg.

Thank you ZANHANMA for explaining it.

Cathy got a DE-TUNE, as I said. It reduced her HP a little and optimized her MPG as the car is no longer racing 1/4 traps.

My NA got a 3.0" CAI, New Plugs , new injectors, back cat deletes, 40 more HP at the wheels and 2 more MPG.

You can get the tune done for the way you drive, for maximum torque, or MPG. Guys like Eurocharge can map new parameters to make great improvements given enough time and money.
