Default Ansa Muffler Modification - OEM Tips

After my recent trip to Carlisle for the Chrysler Nationals I saw the Crossfire owned by "Bluecoupe"

He has the same Ansa Muffler on his car that I have on mine.
With the help of "Beaner" they have modified his Ansa muffler by removing the Ansa tips and replacing them with the classic design OEM tips from the original muffler.

After seeing this I knew that I had to bring back that classic OEM look so I went back to my local custom exhaust shop who did my original install and with a few pics and a skilled exhaust technician/welder I now have the OEM look with that great Ansa sound.

Good to know. You are probably the only one that has heard this muffler both ways. I remember in the old "ANSA group buy thread" someone whacked the ANSA tips off but thought it was way too loud. I still haven't installed mine but I may have to rethink it. I was thinking about a custom filler panel but really like the OEM tips better. Fits the space well. How much time did it take to complete?

The shop owner did this job and spent about 90 minutes to complete it.
He has taken a liking to the Crossfire and he said he has never had another one in his shop before.

Gary great pictures- you know were I'm headed on Monday. Thanks again for the pictures it will help my shop on how to do it. Are you going to throw your OEM muffler away now. I'm thinking it's worthless and giving it to the garbage man.

I was in the shop the entire time they did this mod and we took our time and made certain that the tips were centered and straight before the final welding was done.
Actually I noticed I took one of my pics slightly off center but these tips are right on the money.

Well it's about time you got them changed. I remember seeing you take the pics at Carlisle of bluecoupes tips and took his for a drive to confirm there was no change in sound. I knew it was just a matter of time... Good job!! Bluecoupe see what you started

Nice, how much does an Ansa cost. Also, does anybody here have a Borla Exhaust?

Gary, looks excellent to have the original tips back on. I knew you would eventually do something about those ANSI tips...

Lookin' good, James

This is a great mod, I liked the sound of your car when we were in Pickering, and the OEM tips make it much better. I did not notice the tips at that time, just the tone.
