Default Hissing sound coming from engine bay

So that is what I have folks. I got a faint hissing sound coming from my eninge bay, not loud. Car drives perfectly fine, no codes other than the Secondary Injectin System. I checked for any loose or broken vacuum tubes but could not find anything. And wouldn't a broken vacuum tube trigger a check engine light? Anyone have this same noise?

This may be your idler pulley. you can confirm this by taking a very large screw driver and hold the blade end against the center that is not turning and hold your ear to the handle of the screw driver while the engine is idling. Be very careful! This is an old school method that mechanics have used for years. My grandfather taught me this about 35 years ago. Or if you are a doctor you can use your stethoscope.

Is the hiss only under partial load?

Haha lantana I know that old trick haha, havent done it though. The hissing is only at idle and it sounds like it's coming from the right side, if you were standing in front of the car. FP, I do not have a catch can.

Talking Re: Hissing sound coming from engine bay

allow me to repeat this trick.

Get a hose 3-5 feet long and stick one end in your ear and probe with the other end STAYING away from moving belts and fans thinggies. Woody

This should be a sticky for finding noises, locations. Woody

Haha i've also heard with a piece of wood but that is useful for mechanical/metal noises like engine knock or scraping. I'll check to see if any hoses are disconnected or if the belt is scraping on something. Thanks for the help guys!
