Default Header options?

I tried searching the forum for SRT6 header options but found none.

The C32 and SLK32 have various vendors who provide header options and they add somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 whp.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I read somewhere Eurocharged is suppose to be developing some headers?

So what options are available?

cant point to the specific ones available but I have not heard of any getting 20-30hp. Maybe 2-3 (k maybe not that bad) Cant remember exact numbers but from what I remember there was one option with possible small gains and another that was no gain/slight loss.

Honestly if you don't have much else done, move this down to the bottom of the list and pick up something that will give you more hp/$

[edit] did a search and the VRP headers TVT was talking about were $1300 for ~ 10-15...

i have never heard of anyone in the 320/32 family getting that at the wheels, most of the 32 people are happy to see 10ish hp at the wheels... but yes eurocharged did have their own set but its no listed on their site anymore. maybe they'll chip in and let us know whats up... and FYI, SRT and NA 3.2s shared the same headers.

What we found:

Shorty headers, unequal length: 8RWHP on heavily modified NA car, 14RWHP SC car

Shorty Headers, Equal Length (evosport): Don't fit the Crossfire so no need to test.

Long Tube Headers: Same as above, nothing for the Crossfire.

Out of the options out there, we've seen the best gains with the equal length shorties on C320/C32. The long tubes are supposed to net some great results, but none to test yet.

So it was Eurocharged who had a limited run for sale?

Eurocharged headers are not equal length. We can do a set of long tubes for about 1400.00, there's room. However, knowing there is not a market for them has kept us from really moving forward with it. The gains would be marginal at best and no where near a good hp/$ ratio. We decided to do cams first and invest the time and money into that. Reason being is that the cams can be used by other platforms.

My suggestion would be to find a shop and get a set of one off headers made. Price should be in the 1200-1500 range if good materials are used. Anything cheaper and I'd walk away.

TVT,
I didn't know you guys were working on cams.....Are these going to work for the SRT or just the NA versions?

Has anyone ported the heads that you know of? In looking at the factory exhaust manifold, I can't believe we only get a 8-14 rwhp bump when switching to tubular headers, unless the exhaust side of the head is a choke point as well. Thoughts?

Thanks,
KrzyFast

The cams will be NA specific, but we will do FI cams if there is enough real interest.

As for the heads, we've ported a few sets and the biggest restriction is in the exhaust port. The intake port flows really well, so well that the ratio of I/E is way off optimal due to the exhaust ports low flow.

Unequal length tubular headers do most engines no good unless the stock manifold is an extreme restriction, which in the crossfire's case it is not. Just remember that the same exact style with the same diameter tubing is used on the SC v8 engines and they flow a lot of air.

Before getting to headers, I'd have the heads pulled, 3 angle valve job, clean up the bowl, mild porting on intake side, full port with possible bigger valve on exhaust side. Do not go crazy with the intake side as it already flows a ton more air then the SC can provide.

Anymore info on these, or are they still in preliminary stages?

TVT,

Thanks for the info! I had no idea the factory exhaust manifold was in fact not that bad. It looked like it had a serious choke point in it to me. I did hear that the exhaust side of the head was not that great in terms of flow.

Do you all do head porting or send your work off?

Thanks again!

Cheers,

KrzyFast

Those aren't even close. Headers and cats aren't the same thing.

I know that, I'm just pointing out that these cats are categorized under headers.
