Default Thinking of putting a SRT6 engine in my base Xfire

Hi guys I have a 2005 base manual crossfire and I was wanting a supercharger for it. My idea was to buy the SRT6 engine and switch it with my current one. I was wondering what kind of signifigant changes or complication that I would run into.

It will be a significant undertaking. Even though these cars share many of the same components with each other, the electronics do have their differences and a lot of the parts on the engine in your car are actually in the engine compartment on the SRTs. Is your car an auto or a manual? We're just finishing up putting a 5.5L supercharged V8 engine in a limited so nothing is impossible, just know it is not as easy as pulling out the original engine and putting in the SRT6 one. Feel free to PM or email me with questions.

Take care and good luck.

Nothing is impossible but, unless you have a limited with a blown engine, and a good deal opportunity on an SRT engine for the transplant, the question is WHY????

Don't do it to save money or to make money as this strategy would fail.

Or do it if you are crazy.

A lot of us are. So, along with what Rudy said................

Enjoy

Well the general conclusion is that if you want a SRT-6 engine in your car you need to buy an SRT-6.
If you end up with a base with a SRT-6 engine installed it will not be worth as much as an SRT-6 anyway.

It's been done. User had a wrecked SRT and did the transplant.
Good luck with the project!

I believe HDDP installed a SRT6 engine and modified it to mate with the manual transmission. Not sure of how well it performed...

I also converted my Limited - sold it to CARMAX then purchased a new (auction) SRT6 - upgrade cost was around $3,500 and it turned out to be pretty simple...

Thanks for all the input guys, I think the project is going to have to wait until next summer when I get a little bit of time and money to put into my x-fire.

Most probably the best conversion kit out there for such a project.

you're looking at a minimum of 3200 + shipping for an amg motor. Then you need the wiring harness, and the ecu has to be programmed to the vin of your car.. then you need a fuel pump, bla bla bla, etc, etc... its a lot of work.

simpler to just buy an srt if thats what you want

Post some pics?! I was thinking someone should use the new Challenger srt engine and trans(6spd) use as much from the Challenger as possible(gadges etc). so you can elliminate all "MB world" problems . just a thought...

Unless you go complete standalone, you're still going to have the "issues" you would normally have. That means getting rid of ALL the electronics, not just using the standalone as a faux piggyback with the original ECU.

Thats what I mean get rid of all the M.B. electronics.... You can pick up a base/ limited pretty cheap now, just pull everything use it a weekend racer, it would be sweet... I saw a new smashed Challenger at one of the yards near me , thats what got me thinking..

I think it pretty much validates man of the previous posts.
You will have to use a mercedes engine you can buy on Ebay for 1500 euro bucks.
He called chrysler who said,
Chrysler, or somebody who knows how, will have to adapt the electronics.
