Hey everyone, I searched for this for quite awhile and couldn't find it so I figured I would bite the bullet and ask...


Took delivery of my srt-6 today with 15k miles, and I'm 99% sure the IC pump is bad. It shows all the signs that countless threads on here have mentioned. I LOVE this car when the pump is working though!

I'm in New Mexico now, and was planning to drive back to Las Vegas (600 miles) tomorrow, but can I hurt the car driving with a bad pump?

I checked at all my local parts dealers (napa, autozone, pepboys etc) for a intercooler pump, but no luck. Is there any chance to find a replacement here in town? (besides the dealer who isn't open until Monday) Am I asking for the wrong part?

I searched and found install instructions, seems very easy, just need to find the part....

One last question, is there a way to test if it is something else causing the problem? I saw that it could be the supercharger clutch, is that possible with only 15k miles?

You would be better off getting the Johnson pump instead of the Bosh. The part number is CM30P7-1 for the Johnson Pump.

 

That's what I'm thinking, just not sure if I should limp it home and risk damage to the supercharger.

 

it wont hurt the s/c but might take a while to go 600 miles! best place would be a ford dealership and get the ford lightning bosch pump. if not the johnson will most likely be ordered online. apeusa has them the cheapest. any mercedes dealer would have the part look for a slk32 intercooler pump. dont tell them its for a xfire on sunday you prolly wont find anything!

you could try posting on the c32 or e55 section of mbworld.org. asking for a pump. someone just might be in the new mexico area and be willing to help. most of them are really great folks and rush to help someone broke down

 

Cool thanks for the info man, I think I will hit up the dealerships on Monday and see if anyone has a pump in stock.

If that doesn't work I will see if Rob can overnight me a pump...

If THAT doesn't work I'm limping home in Prius mode

 

if your just sitting waiting to get home i would drive it . at 60 to 70 mph you can make the trip in 10 hrs or so. then you can shop at your pace and have the tools needed to do the job rite.
