Default Drivers door latch - discontinued

Forum,
Need a NEW OEM drivers door latch p/n 05099149AA. This part (as well as the door actuator) were on nationwide back order with no ETA for an eternity and are now discontinued. Do not want salvage yard or used part. Is there an SLK 320 equivalent part number ?

If you look at the part that is on the Crossfire you will be able to see the Mercedes part number on it, that will be the part you would order from Mercedes.

Probably way cheaper too.

Dave, Travish,
The part number stamped on the drivers door latch is 193 723 01 01. This number DOES NOT cross on ANY of the 5 online Mercedes Benz parts vendors using 2004 SLK 320 for the year/model. This is the SAME scenario I went through with the drivers door lock actuator (also discontinued, also stamped with a part number beginning with 193, also wouldn't cross to a Mercedes equivalent/matching part). MB parts for models plat formed on the R170 chassis would start with 170 (I believe).

Parts stamped 193 XXX XX XX are made specifically for the Crossfire - period.
So it's the wreckers yard you should be looking at for parts.

Dave,
Thank you sir for making me less dumb, suspected as much. This info doesn't appear to be common knowledge in the community as many evidently believe (as I did) that virtually every Crossfire part had an equivalent 1997 - 2004 SLK 230/320 replacement easily obtainable (with an SLK VIN) via MB. Perhaps our Crossfire > MB parts cross reference listing should point this out.
Dog,
Many thanks for the link.
Tim

I have one question for you and that is - what is wrong with the one you have, there has been no failures mentioned here that I am aware of. They have failed to work because the air line broke in the rubber boot in the door.

Dave,
1. Since purchase of car, ALWAYS used key fob remote to open/close car.
2. Parking lot accident damage in that area (leading edge drivers rear quarter and immediately aft of door handle.
3. Discovered after body shop repairs were final that I couldn't manually lock or unlock door with key.
4. "Crossfire tech" at Ontario (CA.) CJD (SRT-6 here on the forum recommended) diagnosed problem as drivers door actuator (discontinued) was at fault. Informed me that OEM part was discontinued and gave me the p/n stamped on the actuator and advised that I could get the actuator via MB with that number. WRONG.
5. Finally took everyone's advice and located a reputable independent MB mechanic. Turned out the connecting rod from the lock cylinder to the actuator had been disconnected and tucked out of the way (suspect body shop). Rod connected, manual locking/unlocking GOOD.
6. Was advised that there is damage to a spring in the latch and it would be only a matter of time before it goes and the latch would need to be replaced.
