Default Key Fob/Remote & Central Locking

Hi guys,

I've done a bit of digging and I cannot for the life of my find a solution. US Crossfire here, 2004. Everything was OK then it just stopped.

Here's a problem:

- My key fob/remote will not lock/unlock the car.
- My key when turned in the drivers side lock only unlocks the drivers side door.
- The lock/unlock on the console works.
- When I put the key in the ignition and turn it to ON and then press the buttons on the key, the doors (and trunk) lock and unlock. Only reason I now this is because I tried to reset my key.
- As normal, lights flash when remote is pressed.
- Interior lights do not work despite changing the fuses. They won't even turn on manually!

What I've done and it's not solved my problem:

- Changed the batteries in the remote
- Attempted multiple times to reprogramme the remote
- Changed fuses under the hood.

What I've not tried yet:

- Not changed the square relay/fuse under the hood.

Anyone have anymore ideas?

Strange that Fuse #9 didn't fix this. The symptoms you describe are exactly what I had a couple of years ago, and fuse 9 was blown.
No interior or trunk lights.
Remote wouldn't work.
Lock/unlock on console worked.

Could it be the key itself?

When i put it in, and turn it to on and press unlock/lock on the remote it works but as soon as I pull out the key it doesnt!

My fob does not work when the key is in the ignition and the car is running. That is the way my other Crossfire was, it is a safety feature somehow I guess

Are you saying that my key when placed in the ignition (and turned to ON) should not lock/unlock?

My one does not, either to the first or the second stop.
So I guess your answer is no it should not.

Same problems here, except Fuse 9 was blown, (strange that horn still works though). I replaced the fuse only to see smoke coming out of the air vents/grill just in front of the screen washer nozzles. A quick removal of Fuse 9 put the fire out. Next job is to remove the vent panel to see what's cooking. It will be a few days before I get to it but will let you know what I find. The car will stand with battery terminal removed in the meantime.

Hello I own a 2005 Crossfire I got in Oct 2018 . I love this little car !! and I wanted to tell you under that panel where the washer nozzles is where the Siren alarm is . I do believe it is fried . My siren never worked it is in a bad place because the cowl fills with leaves and junk esp if left outside under a tree . and then get clogged up and then fills with water. My cowl in my Crossfire was filled with all sorts of leaves and dirt. My 2011 Mustang had the same problem and it over flowed into the pass compartment . if you unplug the Siren and try to redo the fuse it may fix your problem . I tried to replace the siren with 2 ebay purchases and neither of them work the lights only flash which is ok. The electrical system on this car is very tricky and I would not mess with it. This car is becoming a real problem as things go wrong with it and parts that it may need electrical esp the Skreem will kill your car forever never loose or damage your keys or remotes and never loose your transponders or you will have a very nice lawn ornement because you will be paying for a key you may never get because they are very hard and expensive if you even can get one because Chrysler wants you to pay ahead of getting it $500 to $700 for a flip key and Mercedes does not support these models any longer treat your keys like expensive pieces of jewelry . Best of luck hope this helps you ; )

Thanks manlaw38 the problem was as you described Although my 2003 Crossfire stands outside there was less debris under the vent panel than expected but cleared out the drains and blew out the other crap. Biggest problem was removing the wiper arms which I doubt if they had been off since the car was new. A small 3 jaw bearing puller did the trick pulling off the arms nice and square. The connection /socket into the alarm was the item that was originally on fire so clipped the cable and terminated them in a 3 hole wiring connector, replaced the 10 amp fuse 9 and all is back to normal except now no alarm. Still can't understand why the horn worked ok when No9 fuse was blown.

I'm having terrible problems posting today, anyway,

The horn is fused on the RCM, there are many errors in the documentation of our cars (service manual, owner's manual and other errors.)

I would vote the connection with the net outward. I know my problem with not being able to edit my sig is not with my computer because I have tried two different win 10 machines (main PC and a laptop). Sure wish I could fix why I cannot update my sig... Messaged 'Cheryl" but no reply. Cheryl had updated twice before for me, as this has been quite a while since I was able to update my sig.

.

I had this same problem with the locks not working from the key fob on my 2008 Crossfire.
Changing Fuse 13 fixed it. (that's fuse 9 on 2005+)

The fuse layout is different for 2007/2008.
