Default Exhaust leak?

I just had the Magnaflow Catback installed on my Xfire yesterday (at Midas). When I was backing out of the driveway today, I got out of the car and looked underneath to see how everything looked. I noticed that there are condensation drips coming from both the bolted and clamped areas of the system.

This doesn't seem normal to me. Am I to assume that there is also exhaust fumes leaking from those areas too? I was tempted to crawl under there today and try to tighten both areas but I wanted to get everyone's advice first. I'd especially like to hear from those that have this catback installed.

Help wanted!

Hahahahahahahaha.

I just entered this section to see if anyone had the part number for the "donut" seal for that joint! Yes, I have had a drip on startup since I had it installed. I think re-using the seal was a mistake in my case. It may swell with heat, but I don't like it.

Tom, can you help?

I had the same condensation drip when I did the Ansa catback on the Limited. The donut seals are not a common item at the muffler shop so I got a tube of muffler cement and put some on each side of the donut, bolted it together and problem solved!

Max, I'm with you on that but the new donut was $50+ at the dealer and the tube of cement was a couple of dollars.

Is yours leaking from both the bolted and clamped ends, or just one?

So far as I can tell, just the bolted flange. That's why I need the donut part number.

Thanks! I suppose I could have found that! I didn't know we had a parts manual on the forum. My bad, but you're good!

I called my friendly local stealership. $8.32/ea.

There was only one in Atlanta, and I got it.

MB uses the very same one-check it out:

Your Parts Search Returned 1 Part(s)

Help?

Flash!

The one I just picked up from the dealer (see previous post) is identical to the old one in all respects except one:

This one is stainless steel.

I did the install on the Magnaflow catback and the one provided from Karmann was fibrous.

I thought you should know...

That's a fantastic price! I'm gonna call the dealer again and let them know, see what they say now. I just wonder what part they were quoting me on?

I just called the Dealer with the 0597567AA part # and I'm told that # isn't any good. Is there another # available? thanx

Thanks for the tip! I found a MB one online and ordered it.

Did the one you installed fix your leak?

Just ain't had a chance! I'll be doing it this Saturday. I'll let ya' know then, bud.

Nobody seemed to think that the material changed-has anyone seen fiber or steel when working on the exhaust?

Your local crappy tire used to carry a wide selection of the fibre ones at one time. But that was then and this is now, but you never know.

Hello,
I think you have another problem. A broken exhaust at the tailpipe shouldn't affect the way the motor runs.

Thanks
