Question Dual CAI vs Single CAI

Hey guys,

This'll be one of my first posts.. long time lurker hehe.. I'm from Australia looking to order some parts for my crossfire..

At the moment I'm tossing up between Needswings dual CAI or single CAI.. I've looked around.. unsure which makes more power? obviously the Dual CAI but many people are saying it's overkill and doesn't really make much more than the single?

Probably going to try for about 270hp.. ecu, exhaust, throttle body, injectors aswell as a few other mods in mind..

have to order everything from America ahaha nothing is really available here in Aus the XF is pretty rare :J they're also more expensive here! N/A's can fetch 30k whereas SRT's can fetch 40-50k!

Hey mate, where abouts are you located? I'm in VIC.

Going by your 270hp figure I'm assuming you've got a N/A? if I were you Id get the single needswings cai, I've got an SRT-6 that does low 12's. I had the dual needswings intake and now I have the single and it made no difference in my times.

oh awesome! glad i'm not the only on from around here with a crossfire lol

I'm from Sydney man, still on my green p's thus N/A crossfire .. that and I hate automatics lol.

wow that sucks, would think dual cai would make atleast a little bit of difference..

you macedonian btw? kolevski sounds it haha

I've run 14.7 completely stock, warm tyres.. would be pretty happy with a break into the 13's until someone figures out a turbo kit for the n/a or something (preferably after I finish uni! lol) .. otherwise might have to look at another car.. gf would probs kill me if it went.. chix dig the xf lol

Is there any mods that I don't know about? Have a friend running e85 fuel on his stock evo making 200kw atw just by upgrading his fuel injectors and flashing the ecu to run on e85.. anyone considered this?

gonna order a cai tomorrow, dyno it this weekend at my cousins shop & then again after eurocharged ECU tune see how much gain I make.

There's a few aussies on here, most are from QLD. For some guys on here the dual cai got them 1 or 2 tenths quicker down the q/mile but its impossible to determine if it was from the dual cai or better weather conditions. with mine it made no difference.

haha yeah my parents are Macedonian! what about yourself?

I used to have a N/A before my SRT and to be honest there are good mods for them such as the cold air intake, tune, bit of exhaust work and thats about all you need it'l get you into the low 14's easily. Anything other then that and your starting to waste your money.

If you want more power either get a SRT as everyone says here or just get a company to turbo or supercharge it, being in NSW there are literally 100's of companies that are more then capable of doing it for you. Here in VIC we have evolve technik I think they have a shop in NSW aswell there the best in the business.

Since your on your P's just get the cai, tune, and change out the cats to race cats or simply get rid of 2 of them and you'll be more then happy for the time being.

did you get the eurocharged special for $265? I'm about to change my tune to them, I cant believe how much U.S shipping companies charge to send just the cable its around $110 not cheap but it's definatly worth it.

haha yeah man I'm Macedonian too

If you don't mind me asking how did you go about swapping your N/A for an SRT? was it trade in or did you sell it? I'd imagine it'll be pretty troublesome to sell a car like the crossfire privately? could be wrong though..

I haven't bought the ECU tune yet but I'll definitely look into it in the next few days... $110! lol got me thinking about how much I'll be paying needswings for the cai shipping hehe

just looking at the evolve technik website.. looks like they have an ECU tune for the crossfire? N/A?

evolve technik
Haha that's awsome!

Rob (owner of Needswings) uses USPS, there alot cheaper but take forever and sometimes even lose packages. Eurocharged use UPS much more expensive but there legit.

Evovles tune wouldn't be as good as Eurocharged, these guys have the Crossfire tunes down to a fine art you cant go wrong, plus the Evolve tune is fairly expensive around the $1k mark. But it may have gone down since I enquired.

I sold mine privately a year ago, it was a 2004 Blaze Red, with 18,000kms I got $27,500 for it so pretty happy.
