Exhaust Ideas!
I wil soon have time to work on my XF that ived had for three yrs, coming off my second deployment in three years and wanna mess with my baby! Im contemplating a new exhaust for the XF. My idea is to remove the rear cats and run a single pipe to the stock exhaust. I also want to open the muffler and remove all the insulation and the perforated kidney things inside then wrapping the muffler in sound heat/deading material . I am wondering of the possible negative effects on it. Is it goin to mess with the engine at all (backpressure). Im lookin for a deeper sound out of the exhaust. Thoughts and experience much appreciated! Some other mods i wanna do are a CAI ,Eurocharged Tune, Injectors, NK plugs and Magnecor 8mm wires. Ay ideas about HP gain with these!

I have a crappy vid of my car before and after I switched mufflers. I'll post it for ya. There are some other vids on youtube as well. If you just want it to be loud, and deep, and don't mind the drone (it's really not that bad), i'd go with this muffler. Oh, and did I mention it only costs $149.95. (Megan Racing Muffler)
Before & After Muffler Vid
And here are a couple of pics (more in my gallery) of the muffler on my XF.
(I know it's dirty, but I was just so excited when I took the pics...
)Edit: Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!
Ansa mufflers sound great on these cars also. Here is a link https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...available.html

Check 'em out and pick what you like best! Of course, there are always other options as well. (Like the MagnaFlow Catback found here at Needswings.com) MagnaFlow Catback Exhaust System
Good luck

It has a trick little iron-oxide diverter valve in front of the muffler, and under acceleration the exhaust gasses bypass the inlet and serve as a cutout, making a nice throaty sound. The neatest thing is the fact that you can literally put your hand on the muffler tip, even after spirited driving. No doubt, cooler gasses = denser gasses and we all know that denser air = horsepower.

I think My wife will make me take it off, if I don't do it first, wow that was a wast of $$$$$ it is so bad in the cabin around 2000-2300 rpm that it will make you crazy!
does anyone know where to get any of the sound dampening material they use to quiet down the hot rods? can't recall the name.

Sorry to hear your modding isn't going very well.

Thanks James.

Thanks James.
Thanks James.
I sure would like to save my latest so far POOR INVESTMENT

Thanks Steve, that will work as well, may look at both, it's worth a try, not sure wher to instal the resonator device, but may call them for advice as they are in Missisagua.
