V-8?
I want to drop this v-6 in my base coupe and upgrade to a v-8 but idk what engine to drop in her, a 6.1 hemi or an sl55, and is there anywhere in Texas to have a shop do everything for you, lol, i dont want to have to do any work myself cause im lazy
and would i have to change the 6 speed or the diff or reinforce the frame? any suggestions?
At your age, how much money do you have to spend, would be the first question. There isn't anything cheap about this conversion. If you are serious, Accellerated Industies will do the conversion. There are several threads about the conversions on here, but you better be ready spend more than what the car is worth...right now, just for the conversion. No six speeds, just auto to handle the torque as well. This is on my future list, but I will need a car in the "all but junk" price range, and another $25K for the conversion. And that is just ballpark at best.

Six speed won't hold up under the torque. Hell, they barely hold up now with those that are racing them. More the clutch than the tranny, but drive line all the same...read thru some of the threads. We will have a few of them at the get together this fall at the Dragon in TN...might be worth the trip to join us, and check them out, get all your questions answered.
As for beefing it up, rearend is a start. There isn't a whole lot of beefing up, as the 55 motor will drop right in. Not up on the hemi, but there is one out east that was posted on here not long ago. Rudy is the guy to ask questions of. RCompart. He does the conversions.

A 6.1 Hemi won't work, because everything is based on Mercedes technology.
If you want to combine a V8 with a MT maybe you can think about the M 113 E 4.3 litre Mercedes V8.
It's technically based on the M112 3.2 V6 engine but has two more cylinders.
If you don't have the skills to do it yourself i think the cost benefit ratio doesn't make sense.

But to do that i'm quite shure you'll have to change everything.
Engine, gearbox, differential, drivetrain and the complete electronics.
Are there any technical details on this conversion?
the Accelerated E 55 500hp v8 is the least amount of money output, overall, when i was going to do mine, it was about $50,000.00 to do the Hemi, and a lot less for Rudy to do the E55,, you see with the Hemi the key does not work the windows are on a switch then the window up/down buttom. and some other things. or you could strip all the wiring out of the frame and install a wiring harness from a charger from tail light to headlights. you want to go fast and not spend your life saving go with the Merceded E55, either you do it or you let accelerated do it turn key. jim

We saw the hemi this weekend, and it is a sight to see. From what I understand the guy who did the conversion basically cut off everything from the doors forward, and then attached a charger front end that was then re0skinned with the crossfire parts. Yes, that's right. A charger front end. It was crazy.
...and from what he said this weekend, everything works except cruise control and he said he expected to have that working shortly.

I see you are in San Antonio area. I might be willing to do the conversion if you stick with a MB V8 and bring the car to Dallas.
The biggest factor on cost will be your choice of engine. A 430 is not worth doing. A C43 wouldn't be worthe the extra cost as the less expensive 500 engine has the same HP and broader torque curve. A 500 or N/a 55 AMG engine would be my recomendation. The 55 Kompressor will cost WAAAAAAY more and will be hard to keep cool in Texas.
If you really want to go fast, keep it cool and reasonable. I would go with the 500 or n/a 55 with a supercharger from Atwood European. with this set up you can match the 55K but have the advantage of a single belt which allow for the use of C43 cooling components.
With the six speed, the C43 might be an excelent choice or the 500 engine. Better clutches are available.
