UOA thread
I think it's time for our own Crossfire used oil analysis thread. If you've had one done post it up here. My sample is in the mail to Blackstone and when it returns I'll post it up. I've always used Mobil 1 0W-40 and changed at least twice a year which works out to 2,000 miles between changes as an average. Some members use other viscosities. Some use extended oil changes. Chrysler started using Pennzoil 5w-40 quite a few years ago. One member is trying Royal Purple 10w-40 that I know of. Knowing your oil is doing it's job is better than thinking it is. So ask for the test kit (its free) and find out for sure, like me. Let's learn what our engines prefer for ourselves.

I like your thinking Les...but, I did a lot of testing in the early days of Mobil 1, as we were sending samples of my big rigs oil in every oil change, so I would include my Vette's oil as well. I use Shell Rotella in the diesel truck, and staying with Mobil 1 in my cars, lawn mower, but I have tried different synthetics in the Harley as it does built a lot of heat.... Still a wise thing to do though, so I will enjoy the read...
After reading, reading and more reading on the Blackstone forums all I get is confused. So, in my mind a Crossfire specific UOA database is a good idea to know what works for us. No arguments about different needs for different engines etc. Just Crossfire results. I'm antsy with anticipation for my results.

well, I always look for the anti freeze/water content...lol..... don't let it all confuse you...bearing wear copper/lead, aluminum and such can be wear... but as long as #'s stay constant, then no worries...
Here it is in black and white. I reported 2500 miles but in all honesty, I don't know how many were on the oil. It was in the car since december. It appears that racing is good for these engines and so is Mobil 1 0w-40.

I just received another oil analysis from Blackstone Labs. All I can say is Mobil 1 0w-40 is great stuff for a daily driver/weekend warrior. I'd love to see UOA's from other oils. Anyone?

I guess all those years back doing this just sold me on the oil and the engineer I took 3 weeks of class with who worked for Mobil didn't hurt either. I have never looked back. Les he never changed the oil in his vette until 10k,,,, Some of my analysis recommended oil changes up to 25K in the vette. Not sure they make recommended oil change times any more, but it proved the oil was still good and doing its job. Sending off a sample is good when you think you may have a problem. Like looking for antifreeze in the oil.....
