Also.. just a thought..disconnect fuel line after the pump and run the tank dry.. fill with fresh 2 gallons . Maybe the injectors gummed up with the corn juice in it. 🙄 |

Checked fuse #11 , looked good but replaced anyway
Car is daily driven, I love to drive it, not fast but aggressive, bought to drive and use not sit Fuel filter changed about 6 months ago At oil change time, I put can of seafoam in about 100 miles before draining. Also add can of red line to gas Gonna pull starter and have it checked. Thanks for advice |

Pulling starter this afternoon.
Found prices on it from $127.00 rebuilt to $475.00 new, all from Napa Auto, 5 different ones. Have a Bosch for $187.00, which is the one that I am going for. Thanks again to ALL for their advice. |

So have you tested for proper voltage at the starter? Are the cables tight at the starter?

Cables are all tight and have been cleaned to a shine.
Even added the extra ground cable from battery to block. Was told that had to pull starter to check it, hard or impossibile to get to for a test |

Hey Bob, I'm assuming this is a 5 speed automatic, right ?
Otherwise, you probably would have already tried push starting it. Yes, from all I have read, the starter is a PITA to get to. George |

When we were teens, remember how we used to reach under and tap the starter and solenoid with a hammer to get it to kick in and start working. I remember doing this for a month before I saved up enough for a rebuilt starter. Good luck with it Bob.
My service manual (page#858) says you'll need to disconnect the passenger side O2 sensor, and remove the right side exhaust pipe. That's what makes a relatively easy job into a PITA job. |

Get underneath it and remove the plastic engine tray Put a jack under the engine sump (stick a block of wood between the jack and the sump to protect it a bit) Remove the bottom and top bolts from the engine mount on the starter side. Jack up the engine enough to remove the engine mount You should now be able to get at the starter The easiest way to remove the bolts holding the starter in is with a battery ratchet as there's not much clearance between the exhaust downpipe and the back of the gearbox housing. Or you could undo the two bolts attaching the downpipe to the exhaust manifold and drop it down to get it out of your way. Remember to disconnect the battery before you start mucking around with the terminals on the back of the starter. |
