Replace Thermostat along with coolant flush?
Hi y'all. My 04 Coupe is at 96k and I will be doing a coolant flush soon since it's been 2 years when I bought it . I was wondering whether I should replace the thermostat as well? So far, car has never overheated or presented any cooling issues.
What are your opinions? Thanks.
I understand your concern and your interest in preventive maintenance. If it was me, I'd replace everything I could while doing the project. Then, there's the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Not sure what to suggest to you. If the car has a lot of mileage, I sure would replace what I could in an effort to stem off any future problems. If low mileage, save some money and go for broke!

If you’re dumping the coolant anyway and the replacement items are not that expensive
it would be worth it to take a few extra minutes to swap in a new one
Leave the existing one in place and sure as Sh-t it will fail 4 weeks after the flush
if you asked the question, you’ve decided that it’s probably a good idea to do it anyway.
It sure couldn’t hurt.

( do as I say, not as I do )
You may want to add a product called wetter water to the cooling system it will lower the water temp which is good especially it it's an auto

Do you know if I should add some type of sealant to the thermostat gasket if it comes with one?
