Magnaflow Or Flowmaster???
Would like to know thoughts on which muffler you prefer. I like what I've read about the Magnaflow #14220 and have read some on the Flowmaster. Which Flowmaster would fit best? I really just want a little deeper sound and if there is a niche of HP gain all the better. Thanks in advance to all.
Thanks, I know I will get gains in HP with the chip upgrade (Upsolute). Just wanted to add some sound effects as well. Doing the Borla and chip blows my allowance per the wife.
I'm checking into the Dynomax. But everything is on hold for awhile. Just got my Ace back from the dealer. Replace stereo - works great!! Replaced TPM Module - didn't even make it home before it came back on and still nothing wrong that I can find. Replace driver's window motor - still squeaks. Back to the shop.

Well I'm biased as I have the Magnaflow and here's why...
1. sound! It really does sound like I've got a V8 now.
2. material- its polished SS, the Flowmaster is plain metal.
3. price! $110.00 and $60.00 for installation!!!

The borla seems over priced for the xfire. I just purchased a dual cat-back Borla for my SRT-4 for $200. It was used but you can pick a new one up for around $350. The quality and engineering is the same. Why does Borla have to charge twice as much for the xfire?
The average performance muffler for a sport motorcycle is around 500 bucks. the whole system ranges around 700 to 1200...
considering there are 2 large mufflers on the Borla system, at say 150 each... and 2 tips at around 50 each... and some fancy welds and sections of pipe... I think the system is fairly priced. It fits and works very well... And its so easy to install the average person with a 12 mm wrench can do it.
Wait till you have to change a tire... now that's expensive.

I think it really depends on the car and heres why. My Dad has an 01' C5 and the shop where I bought my Magnaflow told me the cat-back for his car is about $700.00 (Borla) but get this, the Magnaflow system is $1200+, I don't get that at all. I really want him to get the Magnaflow, but money rules the world and I don't think I can justify the extra $500.00 to him, especially after we heard a Borla system and that one even had a resonater on it and it still sounded good!
I just looked at Magnaflow's website, and it looks as though the only thing offered is a universal muffler. Looks are important to me. Besides, I love the way the stock exhaust system sounds already. I am not convinced that a universal muffler would be much of an improvement.

Magnaflow claimed 12 HP increase when installed in a Mustang, therefore, even if 25% of it goes to our Crossfires, it's still a good gain for the price you're paying!

For $169.00 total investment it just can't be beat and I even re-used my stock tips for good measure!
I have had mine in for warrantee work once and no questions were asked or implied... Its in a second time now and again no questions asked. Of course it depends on what you are asking of the warrantee too. I would imagine you would not be able to make a claim that was a result of the muffler install...
ok i put my magnaflow on after work today. It took me 2 hours and some fabricating and welding.
The ride home was short but so far i like it. i'll post a review after i get some miles on it.
