Default Best setup for the SRT-6 exhaust (OFF Road Only) Use

I have been trying to figure out the best exhaust setup for my "New to Me" SRT-6 and needed some advise from others because for some odd reason my computer has lost sound. Speaking to a member that mentioned the exhaust on these beast was not bad after going with the downpipes from Needwings. From what I can see it remove's the 2nd set of cats while keeping the OEM cat back setup. I am not sure If I will buy the 900.00 downpipes but having the 2nd cats removed should not be a big deal. My car has stock exhaust to the rear muffler which has been replaced with the Magnaflow muffler that Needwings has for out cars. Will that be extremely loud ? I also saw it mentioned to remove the Resonator and move the muffler up to that space. I just dont want to have to do it twice. I can say that with the muffler swap the car is still quieter than what i am looking for. thanks

Do the cat delete from Needswings for front and back

Then give it a listen.

The Sound feels right and I picked up a few HP. You’re muffler would probably be and added plus

The down side to cat delete is the raw smell fuel in exhaust. It’s what fast cars smell like and eventually you won’t want to own a car unless it smells like that.

So the Needwing exhaust deletes ALL 4 of the cats? I think I will start out by removing both of the 2nd set of Cats and removing the Resonator. I have had Race Cars on the Street and really want to keep this car civil. I can have my shop replace the rear cats and Resi for 75.00. I did the 2nd cat delete on my NA coupe and it did sound better and picked up some low end grunt. Thanks for the input.

Yes the Needswings downpipes will remove all 4 cats but he'll add 2 hi flow cats back for a grand as an option. Also if you remove the resonator on a srt-6 you'll get some drone at lower RPM's. Up to you if you can deal with that.

No, i have had Vettes that i ended up with drone, dont want to go there. I think I will start with the rear cats deleted at first. I am not sure if the car even still has the resi since seller told me that he reworked to magnaflow muffler several times to get the sound right. I will know on Tues, car will be back.

So now that I have my car back I see the 4 cats and the placement of the Resi. May I ask where Rob puts the High flow cats in the exhaust system, I assume he puts them in the same area as the rears? On that setup do they still keep the Resi in the same place? I see that its a 2 in and 1 out design with a single pipe going into the muffler at the rear, is that correct? I would think that would be a bottle next on the exhaust. I have a set of High Flow Cats so I need to know where the best placement for them. I will try going with the catless setup since this is a track only use car. Does anyone mess with installing a X pipe in the system ? Thanks

I did notice that the rear cats are dented, maybe they hit something at one time so they will go for sure. is it best to simply replace them or install a X pipe there?

I have the NW downpipes going to the OEM exhaust. So no cats. Stock muffler and resonator. Sounds good, not too loud, no drone. I only notice the fuel smell at start up. After that I can't smell a difference. The downpipes really changed the power delivery. From low end grunty power to a more top end hit. The loss of low end power makes the car not as fun I think. I had a dyno tune after installing them and made 366 rwhp. I might try swapping back to see what's better for me.

We need to be careful and specific about the power changes with the downpipes. Yes, the car feels less torquey under part throttle. I was disappointed at first. At wide open throttle it's another story. If WOT frequently you'll love the difference from down low to redline. The sound with the downpipes is deeper and with a slight rumble. With long tube headers fed into the stock resonator and muffler you can set off car alarms if you try. My power gain with the downpipes was 11 hp at the wheels. Cutouts open on the downpipes was 16 hp. This was with no adjustments to the tune and stock exhaust from downpipes, later headers, back.
