Default Best HID setup?

My sylvania high beams suckkkk. Low beams and fog lights are brighter (ain't that something) so I don't even use the highs. So instead of wasting another $20 on bulbs, I am going to install HIDs and be one of those guys that everyone hates for having blue lights. Any suggestions? Never bought them before and a little knowledge wouldn't hurt. Thanks in advance

If they suuuuck that bad-the bulbs may not be seated properly. Make sure of that first? I have 5000K HID's in both low beams and fogs. Very happy.
There are ~ 3000 threads on this. Happy reading bud.

But make sure the high bulbs are rotated correctly before you do anything else? Just sayin'...

My jacka$$ brother assured me that it didn't matter the way they were rotated. I stated that CrossfireForum disagreed and he continued to put them in 90 degrees wrong. Stupid clips make it nearly impossible. I'll try to do some maneuvering with my fat hands and fingers

Just for your information, the set of high beam bulbs are 180' different from the low beams. There is a tab on the bulbs that fit in a groove in the housing. If the lows are in wrong, the highs 180' from them will also be wrong. Its simple mechanics on how the bulbs fit in the housing with the tabs. Good luck on successfully fitting them.

I've been able to disengage the clip and rotate the bulb without burning my fingers. The electrical tabs don't get too hot. When you do this-you can see the light pattern. Helps a ton.

Yes im going to try it tonight with the lights on. I'm going to make the switch to HIDS no matter what but it'd be great to have my high beams work correctly until then.

When the "Tab" falls into the "Slot", all will become crystal clear!

Thanks for that reminder!

I drove my roadster to CAA6 following Sherri in hers. We normally take 1 car but I hadn't even put 200 miles on mine purchase since and figured I'd take the opportunity and use her as an "emergency wheel/tire" donor if needed rather than take the Avalanche carrying spares. This resulted in the first time I drove her in the dark (dinner run) and drivers headlight shines about 2 feet in front of the car.. LOL.

Well, I was piddling with them last night and got the driver side turned around. It looks good! Then the passenger side had to give me problems (as usual) when my bulb blew up (knew I should've taken the coolant reservoir tank off). Now I have shattered glass in the light socket. Awesome!! Gosh I want HIDs even more now.

I just felt the tab slide in on the drivers side like you guys said it would. On the way to advance right now for another bulb then I can test them on the way home from work tonight

Lights are fixed. Thank you guys. Went off of your advice and put the tabs facing up. Got the knack for light bulbs now

No charge, just pass it along when someone else needs help.
