HID upgrade ?

Hey all,

I am thinking of upgrading both dipped and main beam to HID.

Is it worth doing?

Where did you guys in the UK get yours from?

and is this a good product and deal?

I can only answer one of your queries.
It is definitely worth upgrading. If only for the safety aspect. I just today finished upgrading the fogs.
There are many threads on this subject-plenty of information.

I used a similar kit from Ebay for my dipped beam far brighter, did not do the full beam as they do not flash very well as they need time to "strike" but guess that is up to you.
Only took 45 mins to do the mod once i had worked out where to position the mounting plates needed no drilling or wiring changes so easy enough to do.

Hi Colin.

Order a kit yesterday. Fed up with being in the dark on dipped beam. Iv ordered my kit from HIDS4U.co.uk. Spoke to them about main beam which they said its not recommended. Thers's a delay between dip and main beam which could leave you in darkness for a second or so. .

delay? thought the dip remained on all the time. thought only main and fog switched. i do know there is a delay to start any HID so if you switch back and forth a lot (traffic) i don't think HID makes sense for main beam. Also, here in the states I believe it's illegal to have HID on main beam.

I believe Waldig installed HID's for his high beams.

OH NO!!!!

They do have a noticable delay.

I have HID's on my lows and fogs. I run both at all times (because it looks cool) and I noticed yesterday AM in the dark, that when I "Flash to pass" it puts on a pretty spectacular display of lighting effects!:)

Very easily noticed by other drivers.

Ok, so these sound a worthwhile investment...but is this 40 minute fitting time for a mechanic...or a total numpty who barely knows how to lift the bonnet (yes, that would be me!)

The hardest part is taking the bulb out / putting it back in CORRECTLY... do this a few times on the driver's side to get the feel.. then go to the passengers side where there is barely any room at all and you should be fine..

Other then putting the bulbs in / out, it's just connecting a few plugs.

I agree-it's quite easy. BUT, I recommend re-locating the coolant tank to make it easier:

I wrote this for left-drive vehicles. You may have to read it in a mirror!:p
