Default HID + My Battery = Not Fun

I posted on an earlier thread that when i first installed my hid lights i turned my car on for the first time and the thing just died and I lost all power, I then had to take the cable off of my battery and put it back on and it worked fine. The same thing happened today... for some reason my xfire doesn't like it when I turn on my HID's before I start my car. Has anybody had this similar problem and/or know why this is happening.

Uhmmm. Dumb question, but I have to ask it: Why don't you just turn on your headlights *after* you start the car? Sounds to me like your battery doesn't have a full charge on it...

I can turn it on after but shouldn’t I be able to turn them on before? I just wanted to see if I screwed something up or if that was normal.

Yes, you should be able to turn them on before. Do you know if the car did this before you installed the HID lamps?

If that is the case, then there are two scenarios:

1: Your HID kit is defective.

2: Go back and check your work. Verify that all your electrical connections are tight. Verify that you did not accidentally disconnect or forget to reconnect any other electrical connections. Verify you didn't break anything while doing the install. Try temporarily disconnecting the HID kit and replace the stock lamps and see if it still does it.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but there's only so much than can go wrong when replacing a headlight. Start from a known configuration (stock) and work your way outward until the problem reappears.

Wow firebased that is helpful.

You can try to pull the fuse from the power lead kit one side at a time to see if it helps you narrow it down.
