Default Replacing Fog lights assembly

I need to take the passenger side fog lamp assembly out to fix the silver cap on the inside of the lens. Has anyone done this? Can it be put back on or do I need to buy another fog lamp?

Thanks.

FYI.Took to dealer and got replaced under warranty! Told them an upgrade had been made on lamps (they said new numbers were listed for the part) so they replaced both. No complaints here...

Same thing happened to me last spring, took it in and they replaced the whole assembly. I was walking by the front of my coupe yesterday and noticed the little chrome piece was laying in the bottom again. I guess I'll have to take it back in again, does any body know if there is a TSB out on these things? If so I want to get both of them replaced on my SRT6 to get the upgraded one's on the car while it's still under warranty.

One of mine was hit by a rock and broke the thick glass lens. Not covered by warranty, so I ordered two new ones so they would match.

Had no problem replacing them... just don't follow the service manual.

Use the small access door inside the fender well and you can reach all three of the allen screws. Then just remove the assembly through the little access door. Easy way is to remove the front wheel and have it turned out (i.e.- turn the wheel to full lock toward the side of the car you are working on).

I'm not sure why the service manual wants you to disassemble part of the front of the car when the access door leaves plenty of room with the front wheel off. I suspect it was because they don't want the hassle of having a customer come back to 'retorque' the lug bolts after 50 and 100 miles.

Hope that helps... Cheers!
