My semi-good Headlamp news and a couple questions.
I had taken my XF to the dealer for a Part A service (oil change & 23 point check) and some warrenty work. Mileage is 18.5k
My oil change came to $108 and from what I've read, that is pretty good for a dealer.
My warrenty work complaints were:
- Foggy Headlamp
- Steering Wheel 'click' as mentioned in an earlier thread.
They cleaned the head lamps at no charge. Said there was some kind of film on it so they took a solvent to it for cleaning.
The bad news is when I got the car back, they had not reset the computer for the next service, the lamps were still foggy/filmy on the inside and the steering click was still there. The clicking was now more of a clunk/click sound. They said they fixed it by replacing some spring assembly in it.
The good news is that after the second time (yesterday) I took it back they said they found the steering wheel problem. It was a wiring harness that had slipped down and was rubbing everytime I turned the wheel. They also checked, at my recommendation, the steering shaft bolt. They said it was fine, but went ahead and torqued it down to make sure it wouldn't come loose.
Also they APPROVED REPLACEMENT HEADLAMPS!! The bad news is that they are in, and I quote, "Galactic Storage" and "Nobody seems to have them in stock." They said they are ordered but it may take up to a month to get them.
So, it is a mixed bag of news, but it seems it will work out.
For those who have read this far, I have 2 questions/favor to ask:
1. The "Stop the Rust while you can" rust under the sill plates issue... Do you recommend I ask the dealer to deal with this as preventative maintenance? I don't have the time or (possibly) skill to fix the problem. Again, I only have 18.5k miles.
2. If anyone knows or is a Chrysler dealer, would you mind checking for available headlamp assemblies? I'll forward the information to my dealer's service manager.
Thanks.

You'll probably never get your headlamps unless you hound them. I only ended up getting one headlamp and that was after stalking them for months.

Good luck!
Thanks.
For what ever it is worth...
My Dealer wants to pull the seal and look at it for rust when I bring the car in for headlight replacement.
No word on if this is a warranty covered issue, but I did show them this site and the great pictures Andrew posted. The service manager was suprised and very interested.
They service a few Crossfires and one of the Techs has a roadster.
Also the service manager told me to call them once a week to check on it.
I mentioned I would 'stalk' them until they came in.

I took the car in yesterday and just got home from picking it up.
Here is the warrenty work that was done. No charge for anything.
1. Car rental $25 a day. My coverage is upto $40 a day.
2. Both headlamp assemblys replaced. LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!!
3. Replaced a burned out headlight bulb via #2 above.
4. Pulled the door seals and inspected for rust. Clean and no moisture.
